  1. Didn't notice that TBH as I haven't been coming here all that often. That haven been said, it's still a valid question and the 'age' of the post doesn't give it any more legitimacy.
  2. Do you really need to spread the manure in this thread too? I've managed to ignore the other one, just keep this stuff there please - if this whole thing is supposed to be either smart or witty it fails on both counts.
  3. He has a pretty good chance at cracking the starting rotation sometime this year - what's your likelihood of winning the lottery?
  4. Can't you keep that bkal crap in that one thread so that it's easier to ignore?
  5. Not sure this is a huge issue. I expect that most corporations that deal cross border mitigate currency fluctuations with hedging strategies to limit exposure.
  6. Umm, no, that's assuming that the odds of signing are the same as the odds of not signing. By that same (very faulty) logic, one could say that the odds are 50/50 that I'll win the lottery (either I will or I won't).
  7. Yeah, that should be pretty much "prime of career" territory for a player, not someone just breaking in.
  8. And now Josh Banks has rejoined the organization - as a knuckleballer. Organizational philosophy I guess?
  9. I'd very much doubt that you'd even see Sanchez as a September call-up. He needs to have close to a full season at AA and then possibly a later season call-up to Buffalo. Probably an invite to ST in 2015 but I'd think that AS break of 2015 is about the best that could be hoped for IMO.
  10. You don't understand the concept of a AAAA player?
  11. Any chance you can go back in time and whisper that in AA's ear this time last year?
  12. The cheap part if a really good point. Yeah, he might be able to pick up a #1-#3 through trade or FA but to get two guys who will front the rotation for so cheap would allow them to spend money on other areas. Another good reason not to trade one of them away, as tempting as it might be.
  13. I am totally in agreement that one can't get too attached to any player. I can see though, if he trades one or the other, the vitriol that will be thrown AA's way. Not that that should make a difference to a GM - and I'm not implying that anyone in particular would second guess him. Still, I don't see the reason for trading one of them, if the potential return was enough to put us over the edge, okay, but if he deals one of them, whatever we get back likely isn't going to make that huge of a difference and I just like the thought of both of them in the starting rotation for the next few years. I'm not opposed to him trading anyone at anytime, as long as it's at the right time in the right circumstances.
  14. With all of the troubles that the team has had with consistent arms in the starting rotation, oh boy, it'd be really nice to know that we're "set" for the next few years with at least those two guys in upper half of the rotation.
  15. I'm sure that Sanchez is, but he and Stroman are best buds so I wouldn't expect anything otherwise from Stroman, he's pretty open about supporting his boys, no that there's anything wrong with that.
  16. So many team lists? You mean both of them? Not really meaning to be smarmy as you have a valid point, but on the other hand, it's two teams there - right? And the fact that those names are listed aren't really a surprise other than Anthony De on it. I was about to say that I was surprised that Alvarez wasn't but he'd likely not considered a prospect seeing that he had so many starts for them. FLA and NY were calculated risks that aren't looking so hot. If the returning player had performed remotely close to expectations, this list would be a non-issue.
  17. and you're totally entitled to it - all I'm saying is that you're jumping the gun. Besides, even if he doesn't pan out, probably only one in a hundred do - if that. He isn't the first and he wouldn't be the last that the signing money was "wasted". That's all.
  18. lol okay champ - I can see that there's no sense trying to talk logically to you lol. "I have seen no improvement whatsoever.." blah blah blah - and what's that sample size? You just don't seem to get it that most pitchers need many hundreds of innings to figure out how to pitch. Halladay - 653 IP in the minors, Clemens - 220, Nolan Ryan IP. Oh btw, Ryan's first year, averaged 1.5 WHIP w 6.5BB/9. Sure glad that you weren't the talent evaluator for him - or for any other pitcher for that matter because you just don't have a clue.
  19. Too funny - I guess you're not getting the point that ummm....pitchers who are starting out need to learn how to PITCH - and it takes just a bit more than a few games to figure it out? Were you aware that Norris would have fallen into the same category - especially earlier in the year and he was getting hammered? Do you understand that the reason why that is the case is because the team instructed him to ONLY throw fast balls. 100% of the time, knowing he'd get hammered and eventually learning how to get the ball down and how to pitch? Does this help?
  20. Let's string him up! Can imagine a pitcher that is in the low minors, struggling to find the plate?!? OH EM GEE, if a guy can't figure out how to pitch in his first 25 innings of pro experience, he NEVER will!!!
  21. Oh perhaps you're right about it being health related. You'd think that with Hisle's reputation as a hitter and two great years (92 & 93) as a hitting coach, it would have been enough to get interest from other teams. That was just crazy having #1, 2 and 3 in the batting race. It was such a fun team to watch because they could beat you in so many ways.
  22. A couple of points, I'm sure that it wasn't your intent, but the post made it sound like he was fired after the '93 season, he wasn't. He was with the team in '94 and '95 and was fired after the '95 season after two disappointing years for the team, followed by the start of the "famous" Interbrew era. Not saying that the team did right by him but everything has to be be put into proper context. I'm also curious as to why he didn't work in the bigs as a coach after that. Maybe he got tired of it all, or maybe there was something going on that wasn't public knowledge in terms of his capabilities. I have no idea, and it's not even fair to speculate otherwise, but it just seems odd that a hitting coach just disappears from the game - just like that.
  23. A grinder is someone who always keeps on working - won't stop or give up. He grinds the workouts, puts in extra hours, extra bp etc...
  24. And I suppose you have first hand knowledge of this eh? Honestly, dump on JPA the catcher, that's cool, but I don't get the personal attacks and judgments.
  25. If the Jays lose today (now down 6-0) and if my logic is right, then a top 10 pick is guaranteed with a chance of getting up as high as 8th but it'd depend on the Mets and Phillies both winning. A tie with anyone of them gives Jays the higher position as they had the lower record next year. Looks like best case scenario (I think) is that Colorado gets 7th and the Jays get 8th so it seems like it will be 8th, 9th or 10th.
