Yeah fair enough, it could work I just think of all the scenarios of getting 2 of the remaining guys, Bo and Bregman is probably the worst combo.

I have full faith he will rebound for 2025 and be a good bat in the heart of the order.

That said, if he somehow has another terrible year, that signing definitely looks bad and you have to think about dumping him. Can't be 0 glove without a good bat.

Good chance we don’t have to worry about it 

All these guys have warts and worries. Might be a little careless or Padres esque to add two high profile bats on top of what they’ve committed already 

Who knows tho, Ed Rogers might be fed up with finishing second to the Dodgers in the Ohtani deal and the WS that he’s ready to say fück it we can spend right along with ya

BUT, Taters suffers a DH penalty where his stats are worse when he DHs than when he is in the field and Springer is one of the few players who seemingly gets a DH boost.

So all things considered, you want Taters in the field and Springer at DH.

 

Since 2022, Santander has a 129 wRC+ when he plays the field (133 prior to 2025) and 80 wRC+ as a DH (89 prior to 2025). This dude does not like to DH apparently. If Springer is still good in 2026 then might as well try to bring him back if performance/vibes are still strong. Sticking Tony at DH in 2027 might not be the best plan.

Springer's issue is his knees.  He shouldn't see the OF except on an emergency basis

I don't recall Springer having knee issues aside from fouling a ball off of his knee this season.

Pretty sure his main injury was an undisclosed wrist/hand problem. You could see in the way he swung, his follow-through was completely different for most of the year. Or maybe it was shoulder.

Would make sense why he didn’t see the outfield much with a wrist/shoulder injury.
