  1. Yeah. Like I mentioned after that Rockies series when everyone was gloating, you are never as good as you think after a win streak and never as bad as you think you are after a losing streak. Even if Jays lose tomorrow they will still be okay. The Springer injury is a bit worrisome though given there really is no timetable and concussions could keep you out a while.
  2. Dominguez is like the RH version of Little. Disgusting swing and miss stuff but the command can completely fall apart at any time. I think you need to be careful bringing them in mid inning because of that. I think I’d have the bullpen ranked in high leverage like this Hoffman Varland Fisher Little Dominguez Rodriguez Nance Fluharty
  3. Jays hitters seem to have a bit of a coors hangover. Bassit/Berrios I don’t think you’d feel comfortable in a playoff rotation with. Dodgers are elite though so while everything felt great after Colorado it was always going to be a struggle this series. Hopefully you can salvage a game tomorrow and not get swept.
  4. First ball to get past an outfielder tonight. Nice adjustment by Vladdy.
  5. Ernie with some terrible AB tonight. 3 times first pitch swinging with weak contact. He should not be hitting 2nd.
  6. Not sure I would have PH for Schneider. Hes likely a better hitter vs RHP than Loperfido is.
  7. Varland was the right call IMO. Seranthony can be just as wild and isn’t as good as Varland anyways.
  8. A pitcher who can’t find the zone and a defence that can’t field a ball is a bad recipe.
  9. It does give give them the ability to bring in a Lefty in the 9th potentially and have Varsho/Lukes back to back.
  10. One XBH though (which was a groundball). It’s tough to hit a bunch of singles in a row and score runs.
  11. If Santander is healthy he for sure should be in the lineup. As good as Lukes, Schneider, Straw and Clement have been those guys have weaknesses that good teams/pitchers can expose. Those guys are valuable over the course of the season but in the cases of Schneider and Lukes they really struggle with high velo fastballs up in the zone. They feast on mistakes/bad pitching which there isn't much of in the postseason. I'm also not convinced Santander ever gets healthy this year. Sounds like a serious Labrum injury and that surgery is inevitable if he isn't even swinging a bat now.
  12. I personally think power plays in the playoffs more. The Royals had a lot of success in 15 with that strategy but that was also 10 years ago and pitching is even better now. It’s tough to string hits together against elite elite pitching where as home runs are guaranteed runs. The Phillies in the last few postseasons were super successful because of the homers.
  13. Well at the beginning of the season the team wasn’t striking out but wasn’t hitting for any power and you heard about how the team was struggling to score runs. Last 30 days the Jays are 4th in baseball with a .200 ISO and by far the best wRC+ in that span. If you can hit for moderate power while not striking out that’s the key I think. Interesting the Jays are 26th in barrel rate during that same time span and do have a .341 BABIP so there may be some luck involved there too. The Jays obviously still have a great offence but I’m not so sure this is some trend setter or anything. If they go out and can’t score in the postseason you’ll hear a narrative of how they can’t hit good pitching or don’t have enough power blah blah.
  14. Yeah I agree with that I just meant everyone loves to say how great the team is after a 3 game winning streak but on the flip side s*** on them after a bad stretch when the reality is the team is never as good as you think after a hot stretch and as bas as you think when things aren't going well. Its funny because as a team the Jays defense has actually regressed a bit, yet the offence has been on fire. OAA has the Jays as a team at 11th in MLB and+6 overall. DRS they are 10th. Straw/Varsho/Kirk/Clement are elite but Barger in the OF, Bo and Springer are comfortably below average/poor. I think the Jays can do a pretty good job to maximize performance with platoons and bringing in guys for defense late in the game though so I'm not too worried about the defense. Giminez coming back will help a lot too.
  15. Jays will face great pitching in the postseason may as well get used to it now.
  16. When is Bieber projected to make his first start for Toronto?
  17. Facing them at Coors in August versus at home in April does make somewhat of a difference. Especially that 8 run inning 9th inning yesterday with Nola serving 40MPH down the middle. Like I said the next 9 games should give us a decent indication of where this team is at. Everything feels great since they came off a sweep just like things felt bleak after that disaster against Orioles. The saying goes you never are as good as you think nor as bad as you think.
  18. Wonder what it was before the Rockies series. Obviously Jays deserve a ton of credit since you actually have to perform but that Rockies series was maybe some of the worst pitching I’ve seen in my life. Centre cut pitches one after the other. There was definitely some stat padding in that series. The Jays weren’t as bad as that Orioles and KC series indicated nor as good as that Rockies series would indicate. The next 9 games should give us a better sense of where this team actually is. Having Kirk back is huge though, I’d say he’s the most important player on the team.
  19. They really need to get rid of position player pitching. It skews hitting stats too which guys are getting paid on.
  20. Yeah there probably should be some stat that doesn’t include blowouts or at least position player pitching.
  21. Yeah I’d probably let him pitch against his old team but have him on a 15-20 pitch count.
  22. The team with the worst wRC+ in baseball?
