  1. I mean its only 3 years, that's why he got 40M. The Opt outs make it a pretty good deal for him though. Red Sox looks pretty good right now. AL East is gonna be a dog fight. You could make the case all 5 teams in the East look better than any team in the Central.
  2. Man that’s a pretty low contract especially when he’s making nothing in that first year. Great deal for the Padres
  3. I mean are the jays really actual contenders or even close?I don’t think many believe that. This is like an 82-85 win team that if they have things break right they can sniff 90 and get a wildcard spot. They are likely better off going into the season and finding if a couple of these young guys can become regulars than trading for a bat at this point. Doesn’t really make sense to trade from a weak farm to go all in with an average team. Spending money in FA is one thing but you don’t want to sabotage future years in the process.
  4. I mean THE BAT has the Jays projected for only 5 hitters with a 100wRC+ (6 if you include Roden). Just because Steamer and Zips is high on some guys doesn't mean this lineup is good. Wagner's are: Steamer 118 Zips 115 THE BAT 97 OOPSY 93 I feel in general Steamer seems to be super high on rookies/young players.
  5. Padres are in bad but Id take the NL West 100 times out of 100 compared to the AL East. As good as the Dodgers are the Rockies are incompetent.
  6. With Santander, Varsho and Gimenez now on the roster the need for a LHB isn't that glaring. I know what you mean though, unless you are getting a clear upgrade may as well see what ride the hot hand of one of the many rookies. Even Schneider could have a bounce back.. Bullpen probably is the easiest to upgrade as you can never have enough arms. Guys like Zach Pop shouldn't see meaningful innings so getting another guy who can pitch leverage would be a good idea. Not like the back end of the bullpen is without medical risk either.
  7. They also play in the Central. AL east you could make the case every team is an above .500 team not like there is the White Sox to beat up on.
  8. Yeah a trade does make more sense it seems. The team right now looks like an 83-85 win team so trading for some impact can push it more in the 85-88 range. While the lineup as improved it really could use another bat. You could make the case there is really only 3 guys you can comfortably depend on being above average hitters (Vladdy, Bo and Santander). Backup C I feel isn't talked about enough either and really could be an upgrade there. Kirk isn't the most durable guy and if he misses time the lineup gets really ugly with Varsho, Clement, Gimenez, Heineman 6-9.

Yeah exactly. The NBA system is one of the toughest to go from being bad to good because you basically need a top 10 even top 5 player. And Toronto's only real shot of getting one is through the draft or trade. And since contracts are capped to 4-5 years its tough to get surplus value on any deals for a long enough time as well. Basically you have to take shots on signing guys to contracts and hoping they really improve in that timeframe and when they do if you aren't in that competing window you should trade them to improve your chances of getting a star if you don't have one.

Yeah the Raptors don't make much sense. They have some "good" players but none of these pieces are championship contending players outside maybe Barnes and Poetle. And they are going to be a tax team if they sign Ingram so its just kind of bleh. They're only real shot of getting out of the mud is getting a star through the draft and they likely just made their odds of getting a high pick worse.
  11. He had 15 errors in 60 starts across 2B/3B last year, there’s zero way he should see the infield at the major league level for a team trying to complete unless he comes into spring showing a meaningful improvement.
  12. It’s clear he always wanted to go back to the Mets and didn’t want to ever come to Toronto. That contract is pretty weak for him lol.
  13. If the USD goes to 1.50 with the all the recent Tariff news the payroll could be over 400M CDN lol.
  14. You don't even have to look far for elite hitters that fell off a cliff in their mid 30s. Former Jays: Bautista, Donaldson, EE- all were basically done at 36 and had much better bodies, work ethic than Vladdy. Ryan Howard was cooked at 32 and the list goes on and on. Also you are forecasting in the future, 5-8 years from now the league is only going to get more athletic, younger etc... Guys are going to be throwing harder and being 33-35 then might be what 36-38 is now.
  15. Jays are going to panic just like they did with the Straw trade and now overpay some FA thinking it will get them back into a better public perception while just digging themselves a bigger hole.
  16. Like did no one in the Front office stand up and say hey maybe this isn’t a good idea? Just doesn’t make sense at all. Shows how poor judgement the Jays FO had during the whole thing. I bet Sasaki never even hinted about coming to the jays either.
  17. Guys will come to Toronto but it’ll require a large overpay.
  18. Literally lit 15M on fire lol. Maybe the worst trade blue jays have ever made based on the fact they clearly didn’t have any sign he would pick the jays. Jays FO literally was grasping at straws…
  19. I think he would have gone to the Dodgers regardless. The dodgers are one of the smartest teams and have some of the best tools for players in player development. Sure they’re a big market but Friedman did the same thing in Tampa before going to LA.
  20. This trade really was terrible. If they made it in the “hopes” of being more appealing it’s just terrible oversight and judgement. Now they are paying the tax on a guy who isn’t even going to play for the team.
  21. Jays would be f***ed even worse.. they spend 250M for a 84 win team.
  22. Thats a parody account... Until Passan tweets it I wouldn't trust a thing. These are all randoms just guessing, did people not learn last year from Ohtani lol..
  23. The Jays just spent 12M on more than a fixer upper.. lol Id call it a major reclamation project.
  24. Well my point was in response to pitcher health and specially the rotation. Bassit and Francis recently throwing splitters has nothing to do with the rotation being healthy the last few years.
