  1. Gauseman is really the only one who is splitter crazy. Bassit throws one but less than 5% of the time. Berrios doesn't throw one and Kikuchi didn't either.
  2. It could happen for sure, but risking 400M is a lot of dough. And history has shown guys that size and First baseman age worse than the average player.
  3. I find it funny everyone saying the Dodgers destroy arms while the Blue Jays have this great success of keeping arms healthy. The Blue Jays had like what 7 guys get Tommy John surgery in the last 12 months among pitchers in the org? Most of which were high end prospects. The SP who have been healthy all have come from outside the org. and had a track record of health, nothing the Jays are doing superior lol.
  4. Isn't he wanting a 6 man rotation where ever he goes? So I think you'd have to keep him in that scenario. If he did sign with the Jays you probably could have some sort of a hybrid 5/6 man rotation with Rodriguez having 4 inning spot starts while also keeping Gauseman, Berrios and Bassit on a typical 5 day schedule.
  5. Vladdy is "durable" in that he plays mostly every day but he's also battled knee issues. And I would say it seems like there was a correlation in 22 and 23 when he struggled with the knee. I dunno but its pretty damn risky giving 400M to a guy at this size already. Who's to say he doesn't train as hard or do his best to keep in shape once he's already been paid.
  6. Theoretically I don’t think the jays offering 2M more to Sasaki is going to sway his decision when he could have made like 200M waiting 2 years. Also you could offer him x amount of $ without making the trade for the $ space. So that part of me thinks it bodes well for the jays. However the cynic in me doesn’t want to believe anything until I actually see it lol.
  7. I still think it’s the Dodgers. Going back for a second meeting with players, while never meeting with any Jays players seems odd if he was going to choose the Jays. Hope I’m wrong but we’ve seen this dance before lol.
  8. I mean the timing of it all would just be even more ammunition for jays fans to hate the front office lol. Imagine he told the jays they were out and now the jays are trying to sign the players the Dodgers now can’t.
  9. Oh true, I didn’t see that. Guess we will wait to see the details.
  10. This is the kind of deal rebuilding clubs would make so I would hope the Jays aren’t doing this just to “try to wow Sasaki”. Because if he doesn’t come this just seems like a waste of $ for a team trying to compete.
  11. This seems like a pretty bad deal unless you know Sasaki is coming. That contract is terrible and for a team with limited $ to spend that’s not really a move you would make if you are trying to get better.
  12. I would say it’s more 85/15 lol. Seems kinda weird he did second meetings with players from both the dodgers and padres and not the jays unless we just never heard about it.
  13. I’m surprised he’d be staying there right now with his fear of earthquakes and tsunamis.
  14. I’ve been vocal in thinking he will decline greatly into his early to mid 30s so if you can get a lot back in a trade that’s probably a better alternative to signing him to a 400+ Million deal. The irony is the Jays drove up the prices on Ohtani and Soto and now it’s come back to bite them in the ass lol
  15. I’d very hesitant to call Cohen overpaying Soto a change of the market. You don’t want to talk yourself into saying that then be stuck with Vladdy on an albatross contract while the market doesn’t hand out any other $450+ million contracts. As soon as Soto signed that deal this offseason everyone thought that was going to change the market but outside of Fried the contracts haven’t been that big otherwise. Especially if Alonso (same position as Vladdy) is struggling to get a 30M AAV deal.
  16. I would make that move in a second if I were the Jays. Sure there will be public backlash, but that move also frees up salary which you could then go out and get an Alonso or a Bregman without having to add payroll for 2025. The Jays, as they should should set the ask price super high.
  17. Every time I hear Bob Uecker's name I think of when Norm Macondald and Artie Lange went on Howard Stern and told stories. Had me pissing my pants laughing listening to Norm's impression.
  18. Jimenez kind of gets lost in the crowd, but if he could be average defensively at SS he could become a pretty decent player. 23 years old and projected right around average offensively.
  19. Okay, yeah in that context I agree this isn't exactly a "bold" take.
  20. Whats the draft pick/IFA money the Jays lose by signing someone attached to a QO? I can't see the Jays signing a deal for 1 year with 2 player options and forking over the penalty. There would have to be some upside/incentive built into that contract I would think.
  21. I think Vegas has the o/u total at 76.5 so it’s pretty fair to use that number. For everyone who thinks it’s a slam dunk they could just go bet a lot of $ on it lol. The danger is will they blow it up at the deadline if they are hovering around .500. You trade Vladdy, Bo, Gauseman, Bassit and company and the team playing down the stretch would resemble a 70 win team.
  22. Yeah there really is no reason for Hodge to lie. He’s retired and has nothing to gain from “being right”. At the same time I won’t believe it till I see it, look at what happened with Ohtani. All of a sudden you hear he’s on a flight, made dinner reservations blah blah, all complete crap. Just wake me up when he signs on the dotted line, if it’s with the Jays great. But I’m not getting my hopes up.
  23. Not really. I mean he's already at the point where he's average defensively in the corner/likely below avg this year with his age.
  24. Loperfido I think would the guy I would move out of the bunch but it’s tough because with Varsho coming back from injury he’s really the only guy who can play CF. Barger I really wouldn’t want to move given the upside with the bat. The jays need star level talent especially with the Vlad/Bo situation. Trading him for a reliever or depth SP for a season in which they are a mid 80 win team/wildcard if everything goes right seems like a bad idea.
  25. I live right beside RC and it’s not faster than driving unless it’s 3-5pm. Don’t get me wrong the UP is a great service and I use it often but the Jays would be the laughing stock of the league if they took public transportation to the airport lol. They all take 2 buses from the loading dock to the special charter area at Pearson.
