    Worst case scenario confirmed. Going from Ohtani/Soto to IFK... gonna be hard to get excited until the Jays show otherwise on the field.

    So if Varsho becomes good at everything he sucks at, he'll be good eh... who knew But yes, he has the potential to become a power hitting version of a prime KK, which could be amazing. Now whether he can do it, we'll see.

    Hes literally the perfect candidate given it'd most likely only be a 1 year deal. Still holding out hope Bellingers market totally craters and we get him and J.D. RF Springer SS Bo LF Bellinger 1B Vlad DH Martinez C Kirk/Jansen 2B Biggio/Schneider 3B IKF CF KK/Varsho Getting 2 impact bats are still definitely needed on this team to consider them better than last year.

    Per MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, the San Francisco Giants and Toronto Blue Jays have emerged as potential landing spots for the free agent slugger, citing that both teams are interested in adding “power bats,” with the six-time All-Star and three-time Silver Slugger fitting the bill. P.S. yes I know it's Morosi but I'm desperate for Jays news leading to an impact signing.

    Like I've said before, you always want the guys who opt for 1 year "prove it" deals. More often than not, these guys work their asses off during the offseason and put up one of their best seasons. I would wager Teo will do just that, health permitting.

    Sucks, I really wanted Teo as our 4th OFer/DH. I would always want to sign guys who prefer a 1 year prove it deals. Theres a long list of guys like Ray, Semien, Bellinger who perform amazing in those scenarios.

    Not sure how much of a track record Kirk/Varsho have to be expecting anything from them at the major league level. Springer is a year older so not sure how much of an improvement we can expect here. Now Vlad is the only one who should have expectations to turn it around where itll be impactful enough to worth talking about.

    Not sure about that. I'm pulling this out of my ass but it seems like 6/150 for Chapman vs 8/200 for Bellinger are what they're hoping for. Now whether any of them get that is what's causing the delay of them signing. Bellinger gets more term/risk due to his age but I don't think there's going to be more than a 5M difference annually.

    [bowden] Toronto continues to pursue free agents Cody Bellinger and Matt Chapman with Chapman the more likely acquisition of the two. Would really prefer Bellinger if we had to overpay one of the two. Being left handed, younger with more potential and ability to play multiple positions seems like the much better choice.

    Hope you're right but don't think we have that much money to throw around where we give 7.5M to a backup utility player when we have massive holes in the starting lineup.

    I think it does take them out from the major free agent guys unless their market completely craters and sign a deal much less than where they're at now. You don't give IFK 15M when you could have used that money and a bit more to bring back Hicks who would have more value to the team if u sign Chapman.

    There's a bunch of ppl here who always seem to be on Ross's frequency but looks like even they're losing faith lol. I'm gonna wait a bit longer to call this a trash offseason because part of me believes there's a big trade in the works from a team in a money crunch situation.

    For sure but we need to spam minor league deals to a bunch of fringe starters and hope 1 or 2 of them pan out as average. This is where Mitch White could have helped but we all know how that's gone so far...

    Ya pretty sure he'll be our starting 3B with us looking for impact bats at LF and the DH spot. No one gives 15M to a guy who sucks at hitting to be a bench player when you already have similar players who can do that for a lot less lol.

    No one said that its definitely going to happen, just that Its a possible outcome to the direction our front office has gone thus far. Improving our team on the trade market vs free agency could be the solution because if it's not then wtf are we doing with these signings lol.

    Pretty sure we traded for Varsho first and then signed KK afterwards last year but that's besides my point. My point was that the team is making free agent signings to potentially offer other teams cheap controllable talent to teams in a money crunch. It doesn't mean that Varsho WILL go out but just that it's more of a possibility today than it was yesterday. They probably think this is the better route than overpaying Bellinger/Chapman, which most would probably agree with. But let's see what follow up moves are made because this definitely cannot be it. There's too much pressure on Atkins to take the team forward, not backwards.

    This is exactly how I see it too. They added 2 guys that could potentially make Varsho/Espinal expendable. We can still sign Hadar and add Romano to the trade package to get some impact talent in LF/3B. To me, these moves have signaled they are looking at the trade market to improve the team and Bellinger/Chapman are out as choices.
