    They kept showing a couple of his nice catches as a Catcher so I assumed he was good there too lol.

    This is a very underrated aspect of how we can construct our lineups without having to sign a s***** 3rd catcher. I still can't remember the last player who could play CF and C at a high level. Extremely rare to have an athlete like this at the major league level

    Let's not forget that we added Bass and Merrifield at the trade deadline too loll. This feels like Deja vu but don't remember which iteration of the Jays got accused of being racist before lol.

    Not true at all. I'm far from being right all the time so im never stuck on my opinion knowing this. I just prefer to voice my opinion and don't always like everything this front office does because they're also far from being right all the time. In regards to this offseason, I hate the Teo trade and loved the KK/Bassit signings. I don't think we got good value in this trade since i was a huge believer in Moreno being elite. I also don't hate this trade because we filled a major area of need longterm while subtracting from a position of strength.

    Personally thought Gurriel would have been a great 4th OFer with a team that has 3 CFers. Not to mention he can play a pretty good 1B too. Dude was the only player on our team that was batting close to .300 all year (along with Kirk) and was missed during our stretch run to the playoffs. If he was able to combine that hitting with some power, would have been amazing.

    So we're expecting KK to get better after coming off a major Hip injury? His whole game is based on speed. Gurriel is the better overall player between the two for next season in my eyes. Yes, I just saw Varsho's breakdown defensively. It's impressive no doubt and exactly what we needed on this team long term. Just not a fan of the price.

    is KK really better than Gurriel at this stage of his career? Most of Varsho's WAR came from CF defense, which won't happen as much here. Don't forget that to get all those players, we had to give up Moreno and a comp pick from the Bassit signing too. Those assets could have been used to improve elsewhere. As a Jays fan, I'll still be excited to see how we performing this upcoming season but I'm definitely saddened at losing Teo for next year and Moreno in the long term.

    I'm not looking for "depth" when I'm trading the best prospect in baseball who looks like he'll be a perennial .300+ batter with elite defense at a premium position. Like I said, you only trade a guy like Moreno for a superstar and nothing less. Then we added Gurriel to the trade for the fun of it. This is a total panic move from a guy who's trying to keep his job this upcoming season.

    Hilarious seeing some people liking the move here while saying "all he needs to do is strike out less, walk more, hit better against lefties." Loll This move would have looked better if we didn't sign Kiermaier so he could play CF where most of his value is from.

    Exactly... to call Gurriel nothing is hilarious. He alone is projected to have a higher wRC+. Then you trade one of the best prospects in baseball who will probably have a higher wRC+ too. Come on now lol

    Maaannn... you cant trade Moreno + Gurriel without getting a no doubt Superstar in return. This is a total panic move in an attempt to get a Left Handed OFer.

    I get that... it seems like he wanted to remain close to home so I'd assume he'd give Tampa the hometown discount to stay with them if they wanted him back. Anyways, if he's fully healthy and ready to go for spring training, he addresses my concern for having elite CF defense. Now I still think we need a legit SS defensively but that doesn't seem like it will get addressed this offseason at least.

    I think we all would but their contracts will likely be larger too. We're so close to the lux tax that I think we'd go after someone like him (if we went through free agency). We still have one of our catchers to dangle for a cheaper alternative.

    Nice... calling the Kikuchi contract stupid ruffles some feathers. Hope you're keeping sober these days and still aren't the town drunk around here lol.

    The difference with those players was that we didn't commit to them long term financially so the risk was minimal. And excuse me if I dont care about offseason reports when we have his past 1.5 seasons to show he's underwhelming to say the least. But yes, if they can harness his control then he can earn the remainder of his contract. Let's see how he looks in spring training because he'd help the rotation immensely if he was good.

    Would love to take the chance on him, especially with the shifts going away. Upside is too great to not like him in a 3rd/4th OF role. For that reason, I'm guessing he'll get a decent offer from someone.

    Man that physical must be really worrying if we're still waiting (my guess). Also scares me that Tampa is letting him walk on a 1 year deal if that's what ends up being the final deal. Tampa rarely screws up lol.
