  1. I sometimes wonder how much better american baseball would be if they developed players the way soccer does in europe. If you are from a poor family in london and you show elite soccer potential, you are going to get elite coaching until you fail. People fall through the cracks but not that many. The american system is fantastic for the olympics as the high school and college system especially just puts money into sports that other countries can't compete with. But i think there is a reason that even though they have huge soccer playing numbers, that they still kind of suck. European countries are just better at developing soccer talent.
  2. That's an average to slightly above average rotation imo
  3. The dodgers have so much pitching though. Like its insane depth. They could afford to have those guys not play all year. We need pitching imo in free agency.
  4. I think lopez having better bat speed does give him a little more upside of all that group, but clement gets to the sweet spot launch angle wise a ton. He really actualizes all he has in games. I do think lopez has the most upside. Miami have done pretty good getting guys. Stowers was a great get as well.
  5. Lopez, one of my favourite prospects.
  6. Don't you think the marlins would want more control and a younger player? With their budget, they need to create their own clements. They can't be trading guys like sandy a for them.
  7. Clement as well has a pretty bad one compared to this year.
  8. Yea i'm beginning to doubt these projections then. The defensive ones seem all over the place.
  9. Its interesting steamer has bo as a non negative defender next season. I think I agree these contract estimates underrate him.
  10. Alot of those kinds of moves depends on how repeatable guys like clement and lukes are. Does this front office have a skill of finding multi positional guys who they can increase the bat speed a bit on and make into near league average hitters? If they are confident about that, i don't hate it.
  11. Steamer 600/200 (based on 600 pas or 200 innings) has it at 2.1 vs 2.7. I personally wouldn't do it because he is possibly back up to like three spots. Having a 2 WAR guy as that is massive. I don't think its crazy but also i think miami would want more control coming back.
  12. I'd keep berrios and hope for a rebound. His velo was down alot for 31. Its possible he was playing injured and he can get back to being a decent innings eater next year.
  13. I'd go Okamoto if you think he can play third. Slide clement full time to third. Then spend on pitching.
  14. Yea, i think someone like Williams at the top of the market, or a reclamation at the bottom.
  15. I think the key for him is for his eye that he has shown at triple A to translate to the bigs. Looking at his at bats it seems like he has a good judgement of the strike zone, but it hasn't really translated yet.
  16. Biggio has about 6 career WAR. That's a good pick,
  17. I wonder what the difference is. Their arb estimates are a tad lower than spotrac as well.
  18. I see 226 on spotrac minus sandlin, so about 224. We were at 255 last year. I don't see 295 or so as that crazy.
  19. Bo, Imai and Okamoto would be about 70m more to payroll i'd say roughly? So, $40m more than last year. Not terrible.
  20. I think i see it something like bo, imai, okamoto plus a reliever. That would be a good offseason for me. You could run lineups like DH Springer RF Barger 1B Vlad 2B Bo LF Santander C Kirk CF Varsho 3B Okamoto SS Gimenez/ Clement And then you know you will have injuries. That is a deep lineup:
  21. Even eye test wise, super smooth looking in the field, and he had a good eye. He makes decent contact as well. Its just a solid profile.. and if he can increase his bat speed more..:
  22. Just listening to the latest Rates and Barrells pod. Eno has Okamoto as solidly a 3B. His profile really fits our style. He is a rightie and he would kind of block barger a bit at third. He has played left field too and obviously can play first. I think he'd be a solid add. Maybe get him for something like 4/70 or something.
  23. Its usually less than you think, but i'll predict tieddemann, brock, kasevich.
  24. I'm definitely keeping Jimenez. I think he is like a 2.5 WAR player. Its worth keeping.
