  1. I get that there is an idea that's its cheaper to pay for back end in free agency than at the deadline just in pure value, but i think i'd rather just see what we need at that point.
  2. I really want this guy. He could end up being the best pitcher in this free agent class.
  3. I'd be more worried about one of the most uncompetitive at bats i've ever seen against the cubs in the playoffs in a big big spot for tatis, than how many kids he has.
  4. I'm a believer in Jimenez. His steamer 600 projections are pretty good. He seems to be a good defender at multiple spots. He has decent bat speed. I feel like there is a lot there to work with. I'd want him to be utility.
  5. One thing i'd like them to try this offseason via trade probably is figure out next year's CF decision ahead of time. I don't like signing short stops and centre fielders in free agency and i don't think varsho ages well. I'd try now and at the deadline to identify a replacement. I'd also like to see clement get some reps there in spring training. See if he has the instincts to play there. He has the speed. He has great infield instincts. And he's under control for 3 more years.
  6. I was actually looking at statcast for guys who reminded me of lukes and clement (defensive versatility, plus square the ball up, and don't whiff) and his name immediately stood up. Its such a useful type of player that i don't see them trading him. You need to identify these guys in triple a probably.
  7. At some point they just run out of space. Like they can play the homegrown guys out of the pen to some extent, but you can't have tons of starters without options.
  8. Yea that would be fantastic. That would be achieveable with a lot less than 6 WAR as well, Especially with a guy like Yesavage who is a weird look, we really need to see how he does when everyone has seem him. There is still a real chance he ends up a reliever. Of course, also a chance he is an ace.
  9. I made a mistake, it was 6.1 for tatis. So, you can add christopher sanchez. Pretty good list! It's only like ten guys in the last 5 years.
  10. I'll take the under. What odds will you give me? edit: sorry tatis had 6.1 war. I'll take the under on that as well.
  11. He's 26 and projected for almost 6 WAR next year and had 6.5 WAR last year. So..... yea.
  12. The only way we even get in that deal if either barger or yesavage are included. At least yesavage.
  13. Payroll wise that is a really backloaded contract which might make it less attractive to some teams. I wonder what they think of him as a possible centre fielder.
  14. Playing strictly by the rules, i'm a million out. Bichette and Imai are 51. I think Suarez represents great value at 23, but i'm kind of looking for upside. I'm looking for someone who could be top at some point, or someone to round out the bottom. Not the middle. So, i'll go Bo and Ponce for 37 million and save the rest. If i can get refsnyder for like 3 million, i'd take him as well.
  15. From the pov of minor upgrades and how much we platoon, and how much we pinch hit. Refsnyder still absolutely mashes lefties at 34. He would be a decent cheap add.
  16. Bo, Imai, Ponce for me and i'd be really happy. That's too many starters but we'd make it work. If we could trade for a clear number one starter, that would be even more ideal.
  17. It just seems so much has to be right with no floor. Like if he doesn't stick at third he can't play first for us. Some of the scouting reports i've seen doubt whether he can even play first. You'd almost have to toy with the idea of playing vlad at third. Then the big comp is joey gallo as in gallo is the only guy who swung and missed that much who turned out to be a success. There is talk that he needs to shorten his swing. And even that he might be strongside platoon year one while he acclimates. It's a lot. Maybe if the price is right but i don't see how a team with a clear need at first doesn't outbid us. Seattle for example.
  18. He supposedly has true 80 grade power. Its all about if you look at his swing and see a way to get to more contact, and think he can play third. That's one too many variable for me.
  19. I'd be a little hesitant on Varsho. Who knows how his defense will age.
  20. the baez and anderson comps are out there to me. Bo makes more contact in and out than them and swings outside the zone less. I do get the concern with his profile tho.
  21. If he really touches 98 as a starter then i'd give him that to be our 5th starter, and you could even have the downside as a reliever with even better velo.
  22. Yea but you can't keep him in the upper minors and would need to keep him stretched out in the pen.
  23. To an extent. Defensive war is obviously less valued by teams than hitting.
