  1. Doesn't really matter who's manning RF this season when we're definitely getting Mookie Betts next year.
  2. I'd be more concerned with the fact that no teams seems to be interested in Puig halfway through Spring Training even though he could likely be had for a pretty cheap deal and upgrade most teams OF. There's been zero reports tying Puig to any teams by Rosenthal, Heyman, etc. Teams have access to more information than us, so it could be that he's battling some sort of injury, or teams don't think he's worth the headache he might create in the clubhouse. Maybe Puig is waiting for a big OF getting injured on a contender and wants an extravagant deal. It's odd, because it's not like he had the issues that other FA's have had in recent years either when they signed late. He's young, he doesn't have a QO attached, he definitely worth a major league spot, and he shouldn't cost too much. Either way, I'd be on board with trading Alford and giving Puig a 1 year deal considering Puig in that 1 year will likely outproduce what Alford will during his entire career.
  3. Brendon: Looking forward to the Jays list! What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned after making calls about the system? Eric A Longenhagen: That aside from Pearson, Roither Hernandez is the hardest-throwing dude in the system.
  4. Eno Sarris on our starters. Great article:
  5. Fangraphs just dropped the Yankees list and it's 54 players deep https://blogs.fangraphs.com/top-54-prospects-new-york-yankees/
  6. By May, we could be looking at a 1-2 of Pearson-Ryu, and having Matt Shoemaker as a #3 provided he stays healthy is not the worst spot to be in. And then Anderson and Roark would fit in nicely in the backend. Obviously a lot of things would have to go right, but I think with the way the offense was playing in the 2nd half along with hopefully a major leave average caliber rotation, 79-80 wins seems like a floor imo. And if that’s the case, if a couple other guys do breakout offensively (i.e Fisher, Tellez, Jansen) , we likely could be playing meaningful games into September.
  7. A really excellent piece by John Lott in the Athletic that provides insight in the new coaching structure within the Jays system (majors and minors). Obviously results have to follow to consider it a success, but the amount of infrastructure and resources this regime has put into player development and coaching has to be commended. Really makes you wonder how antiquated our player development system was before they got here.
  8. Keith Law top farm system rankings for who’s interested.
  9. Jansen 2 run homer. He's been on fire this spring with the bat. He spent most of last offseason working on his defense and was a Gold Glove finalist. I'm incredibly excited to see his offense this season after spending an offseason working on it.
  10. Pearson basically embarrassed 2 of the better hitters in the majors last season. Is he the best pitching prospect the Jays ever had? Was Halladay considered a better prospect?
  11. Mark your calendars: Brendon: Jays list coming soon? Eric A Longenhagen: Late next week
  12. Really rough Spring Training for Alford so far. 2 errors today on defense as well.
  13. Hector Perez is frustrating
  14. Just noticed Fisher dropped his hands in his batting stance. Wonder if it'll translate to more success.
  15. I'm curious why you think a guy with the bat-to-ball ability Espinal has is a non-prospect. Yes, he's old for the level and hasn't demonstrated he can hit for much power, but we've seen players with his profile come up and grow into power as they get adjusted. Not to mention, he apparently plays a good shortstop too. I wouldn't outright call him a non-prospect. I can quite easily see him become a Kike Hernandez type.
  16. Pearson struck out the side in his 1st inning. Tyler Wade looking, Andujar and Tauchman swinging
  17. Hatch’s stuff looked legit. Throwing 96 apparently.
  18. Luis Severino shut down with forearm discomfort. That's both him and Paxton down in the Yankees rotation.
  19. Hard to believe he was our #1 prospect as recently as 2016.
  20. Sucks that Borucki is out, but between Yamaguchi, Kay, Zeuch, and Waguespack battling for that last spot along with Pearson not too far off, I’d say we’re still in good shape still.
  21. How is it that someone getting caught jerking off in a parking lot generates more interest in a baseball forum than actual baseball news?
  22. Breyvic Valera claimed by the Padres.
  23. Also, Jays rank #6 on the Baseball-America farm system rankings. Rays are #1. They’re just unfair right now.
  24. FanGraphs Top 100 prospects list: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2020-top-100-prospects/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf 4 Jays: Pearson #8, SWR #76, Groshans #80, Orelvis #89. Wander Franco at a 80 FV. First one FG has ever handed out I believe.
  25. I know our pitching staff is pretty crowded right now, but I’d love to get Ross Stripling. Angels didn’t seem like they we’re giving up that much for Joc and Stripling. 3 more years of control too.
