  1. I read that Romano found out last year that he was throwing way too much during off days and the fatigue was affecting his pitching. His routine seems a lot more mature and he said he was focusing on sleep and recovery. Combine that with his move to the bullpen and focusing on two pitches and you get a big uptick in velo and wipeout slider. He'll be fun to watch when he's on.
  2. Anyone watching the Padres intrasquad? Mackezie Gore is dealin, Edward Oliveres hit a homer off Drew Pomeranz, and Josh Naylor lost a ton of weight. He almost looks unrecognizable.
  3. No televised Jays intrasquad game today, but MLB.tv is streaming a lot of other teams televised intrasquads games for free if anyone is jonesing for some content. Just need to create a free account.
  4. Santiago Espinal has had great AB’s going back to the original Spring Training. That was another good one. And he’s got speed it looks like too!
  5. By far the best pitcher with the last name Cole in the AL East.
  6. Looks like we might see Woods-Richardson after all? He's warming up.
  7. Waguespack's stuff looks super flat right now
  8. Will they even go the whole nine innings? I don’t think any intrasquad game they’ve played so far has been all 9, but I may be wrong.
  9. That Ryu curveball may have been better than any pitch any of our pitchers threw last season. Only a slight over-exaggeration
  10. Really intriguing arm, I agree.
  11. Austin Martin and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. have arrived in Toronto. We could maybe see Austin Martin play in the televised intrasquad games
  12. Rowdy just homered again, this time oppo
  13. The bat still has a chance to play. I think there are intriguing elements to him for sure. He completely torched AAA in his short stint in 2019. But I don't think he's part of a contending Blue Jay team in the long run. My hope is that he gets hot for 60 games and then we can trade him for something decent. It'll be interesting to see the transactions in general after this season. You would think this regime will shift aggressively towards trading for some key pieces after all the hoarding of prospects they've done in recent years.
  14. Nice little quote by Bichette
  15. Giants also increased minor league salaries and stipends.
  16. The Jays channel just uploaded a short clip from an introductory meeting they held with Austin Martin: Interesting tidbit: Obviously we gave the kid $7M, but kid looks like he's genuinely enthused to be here. Really great to see. Also probably incredibly relieved he doesn't have to play for teams with long rebuilds ahead of them like the O's or the Tigers.
  17. Blue Jays come in at #4, for the farm system with the best RHP: https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-farm-systems-with-best-right-handed-pitchers?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage Only behind the Dodgers, Marlins, and Tigers
  18. They've also had some pretty clear wins though: Hutchison for McGuire and Liriano Liriano for Teoscar JB Woodman for Aledmys Diaz, who in turn got traded for Trent Thornton Grichuk for Leone and Conner Greene (extension may not have been the wisest move, but the initial trade was definitely a win) These aren't superstar acquisitions that have provided a ton of surplus value by any means, but they still made the team markedly better while trading away little to almost nothing in value. The one huge trade they were able make where they had a significant amount of leverage, I think in retrospect has aged incredibly well (Stroman for Kay and Woods-Richardson). There also may have been a been a mandate from ownership to make sure Osuna never suited up as a Jay again. They've made some questionable trades, but I don't think the Osuna one is one of them.
  19. Did it? I don't think I read anything disputing the initial report. Then again, it was by Bob Nightengale, so you could be right.
