So the Dodgers basically swapped Verdugo for Betts, gave up a good IF prospect in Jeter Downs who would’ve been blocked anyways by Lux and Seager, got a not bad pitcher in Price for a reasonable salary, and got a Top 100 guy in Brusdar back for Maeda? Sounds like a total win for the Dodgers.

I believe Orlevis Martinez had the best SLG for a 17 year old in the GCL since 2006. Or something to that effect. I wouldn’t be surprised if he shoots up the prospect rankings in the coming year.

The writing was on the wall regarding Bryant's grievance. Cubs didn't technically do anything wrong, but I do feel for Bryant. He had 171/172 days required to fulfill a year of service time and still ended up playing a whole season in his rookie year (151 games, 650 PA) whilst essentially not getting the proper credit for it. On top of that, how much money is he potentially losing by hitting the free agent market at age 29 vs. 30?

Baseball-Prospectus released their Top 101 prospects this morning. Don't have a subscription, but apparently they have Pearson at #19, Groshans at #43, and Manoah at #83. No Woods Richardson.

You guys realize you can look up the exact rankings so you don't have to approximate right? They're available on Baseball-Reference and the MLBTR articles when they were traded. Syndergaard was ranked #53 by Baseball-America before the 2013 season started, and that's when he was traded to the Mets. More or less a Top 50 guy. Barreto was ranked #86 pre 2015 by BA. That's when he traded for Donaldson. Jeff Hoffman was #33 and Daniel Norris was #18 on the BA midseason list in 2015 right before they were dealt.

It's basically a gimmicky selling point. I'd be more interested in a "Top X prospects" list with X being the number of prospects with 55 FV or whatever FV you determine to be significant.

Has there been any talk about Shapiro's long term future with the team? The fact that Rogers had enough confidence in him to give the go ahead to sign Ryu is a positive, but I was hoping something would be announced by now.

Already posted above, but Alejandro Kirk was apparently on a shortlist of 5 prospects that barely missed the cut. Other Blue Jays prospects that had Top 100 consideration: - Alek Manoah - Orelvis Martinez - Gabriel Moreno - Adam Kloffenstein - Eric Pardinho If these guys have a good start to the season, we'll likely see them on the midseason list.

My guess is Ozuna didn't get any long term offers that he liked and wanted to take a 1 year deal to hit the market again. Doesn't look too great for Castellanos either at this point.
