  1. Rodriguez has certainly had some nice moments but unfortunately we've all seen the endless cycle of injury that Tiedemann is caught in. I like that both of Yesavage and Bloss have been steadily building up their workloads while typically avoiding the injury bug.
  2. Given how many times you've been repeatedly warned and even banned for using this type of language I am honestly questioning your mental faculties.
  3. Bloss is close to major league ready, and I expect Yesavage to move very quickly through the system as well. Those are both the type of high end depth pieces the team was largely lacking recent seasons.
  4. I think the organization's pitching depth stands to be dramatically better next season given the recent trade deadline and draft acquisitions, at least on the rotation side of the ledger. Hopefully the team can finally find a way to supplement the bullpen from some homegrown players for once vs needing to sign pricey free agents and scouring the waiver wires.
  5. Are you honestly dumb enough to care about what the projections say before the team is even assembled? That's not exactly mensa level stuff bub.
  6. IKF had a really similar stretch last season over 4 months so he's done this type of thing before. He just wasn't able to carry these types of results over the final 2 months of the season as his strikeout rate skyrocketed.
  7. Who cares what the projections say as the offseason starts? Anyone can see the team is going to have a very busy offseason in free agency and trade attempting to fill the holes on the roster. The projections that matter are those that happen after the offseason moves are complete.
  8. The team has a tough uphill battle to climb but your endless proclamations about how the team literally has zero chance to compete are no more worthwhile than those that think the club has a punchers chance at success with some prudent offseason moves. The preseason predictions saw this as a mid 80's win team and the worst case scenario unfolded in the bullpen and left this giant steaming mess. The club has essentially league average starting pitching and a very close to average offense since the calendar turned to April. With a more typical Bo Bichette season and some sensible position player additions the offense can be decent to even good again. The bullpen is going to be the hardest thing to fix given the amount of holes, but it's not like this team is completely starting from scratch the way so many of the naysayers are carrying on.
  9. This is eye test stuff only but to me Vlad has a lot of trouble with routine grounders where he has to move his feet a bit. I can't say whether this is footwork related stuff or if he simply doesn't have the hands for the position but he regularly clanks pretty routine looking plays that a major league first baseman should be making with relative ease. Given how other posters have pointed out he's great at scooping bounced throws it seems he should have good enough hands to be more effective at first base but that's just spitballing on my part.
  10. Are you able to provide the BA writeup for McAdoo? I'm curious to see their tools breakdown as they seem to be more forgiving compared to Fangraphs in particular.
  11. Yeah he's put together a nice 3 month stretch after a tough April. He seems like a near lock to opt out of his deal at the end of the season but we shall see how the last few months turn out.
  12. I think a lot of these guys will ultimately used as trade capital to fill the roster out for other areas in need. The bullpen in particular needs to be restocked and a bunch of these dudes are likely to be flipped for this purpose. If even one of them turns out as a full time regular that will be an excellent return on a bunch of mostly expiring contracts.
  13. I recall the Yankees backed out last minute on a potential Ken Giles deal at the deadline years ago and the Jays ended up not having time to pivot.
  14. That's a very good point.
  15. I legitimately wouldn't be at all surprised if both Jansen and Kikuchi are brought back in free agency. Kikuchi is a guy I'd have no qualms with using in a wild card series but he's the type of guy that would need to be on a short leash given his tendency this season to have games spiral out of control after initially dominating.
  16. I believe an optimistic timeline could have Alek back by mid-late July or thereabouts if he doesn't experience any setbacks.
  17. https://www.tsn.ca/mlb/blue-jays-alek-manoah-has-tommy-john-surgery-out-12-14-months-1.2136460 Manoah had a fully ligament replacement but with an added brace. The internal brace can be used on it's own when there isn't sufficient damage to require a full ligament replacement, but that wasn't the case with Alek. https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/blue-jays-alek-manoah-has-surgery-will-return-to-toronto-for-rehab/
  18. No I don’t think it’s necessarily one or the other in this case. Some players have a combined procedure where the ligament is still replaced but a brace is added to increase the strength of the repair. Alex has an expected 12-14 month recovery time just like regular Tommy John surgery.
  19. They must be doing something right given the extended run of success but given their nearly worst in MLB farm system even before the Kikuchi trade they can’t be super great at drafting.
  20. Where do you go to look up scooping stats?
  21. If I’m not mistaken it was a hybrid procedure with full Tommy John plus internal brace. I believe the rehab time is the same but the repaired tendon should have improved expected life span.
  22. Manfred has stated repeatedly that MLB will be going to a challenge system so Kirk will still have plenty of value. Even without framing he is still an above average defender as he’s posted positive values in throwing and blocking this season.
  23. I don't think all of the underperformance compared to expected stats was purely luck. Vlad hit a lot of hit barreled balls to the deepest parts of the ballpark and subsequently these batted falls found their way into opposition gloves. On top of that he's barreling up more balls and finding the sweet spot more frequently.
  24. I think if Alvarez went to free agency he would have set a new standard for 1B/DH contracts as there aren't any recent players who reached free agency who are comparable based on elite offensive production from an early age and reaching free agency at a very young age as well. All of the other first basemen to sign in free agency were quite a bit older than Alvarez and didn't really offer the same type of consistent offensive output.
  25. I think Alvarez signed a bad deal so it probably shouldn't serve as a comparison. He's a 4 win player in a poor season and a 6 win player in a good season. I think he's underpaid to a great degree as one of MLB's best overall hitters and likely left a ton of money on the table vs going to free agency.
