    Yeah that's a long road back for a soon-to-be 36 year old pitcher, probably will be it for him

    Austin Hays was released by the ChiSox upon being activated from IR, basically lost his short side platoon spot to Grichuk while out injured long term. But we should be among the teams looking to sign Hays to start against lefties. He has a .914 OPS against LH pitching since the start of last season, and has always been a lefty masher. He'd be a clear improvement over Schneider

    I believe I read that his GB rate has fallen since he started throwing the splitter and became less reliant on his sinker, but he's still a heavy ground ball pitcher throwing those two over half the time combined. The 90+ MPH splitter is still a fairly new weapon for him, must be a nightmare to time when it's played off the hard sinker

    He goes from the worst framing tandem to the best, and gets improved INF defense as a 90th percentile ground ball pitcher.

    Soriano has two more years of team control, this was an early off season acquisition

    The movement on some of these pitches is disgusting

    Soriano's pitch usage is about as even as you're going to see. For this year he's thrown his sinker 27% of the time, curve 26%, 4 seamer 24% and splitter 19% (also mixing in the odd slider at 5%). He has higher end FB velocity but it appears to be the off speed stuff driving his success

    I guess having a clear direction is better than floundering in mediocrity, but they'll have to do a better job of developing young talent in order for this to work out for them

    No, just more like it would have been more difficult to fathom moving Nimmala when he was our only position prospect of real consequence

    I haven't read any Angels fans reactions to this, but they can't be thrilled. They've struggled so badly to put a quality roster together for quite some time - trading a quality 27 year old cost controlled SP for prospects won't get them any closer next year.

    Not even speaking positionally, just in terms of Nimmala no longer being our highest value position prospect
