  1. Yes. Unless his K% returns to 2021 levels, he's going to get BABIP'd this season and give up more HRs. Not enough swing and miss. I think Gausman, on the other hand, will have his best season yet.
  2. I read Chris Black's thread on him, and he pointed out that the platoon may not be a strict LHP vs RHP between Belt and the Catchers at DH. It could be based on pitch mix of the SP. Belt is fine against LHP and he's great at low pitches (sinkerballers, curve/slider guys) and his weakness his high FB, which is Jansen's strength.
  3. Yep, but I'd be cool with just a cheap AAA guy at this point. No need to fork out 5M for a Wacha type. I hope we can get Alex Reyes on a spring invite, if he'll accept it. I only want to guarantee these roles in the BP. 1. Romano 2. Swanson 3. Bass 4. Garcia 5. Kikuchi/White Then the other 3 spots can be a battle in spring between Cimber, Richards, Mayza, Pop, J Fernandez 1, J Fernandez 2, Nate Pearson, Julian Merryweather, Alex Reyes & Zach Pop. Hopefully it ends up with 1 of the Fernandez clones, Pearson & Reyes/Pop rounding out the last 3 spots based on performance.
  4. Health was an issue in 2021, but Belt hit 29HR in 97 games lol. He's healthy now finally. He could be a beast. Not out of the realm for a healthy Belt playing DH against RHP only to drill 30+ bombs and have a mega wRC+ by end of season. Lineup looks nasty RHP 1. RF Springer 2. SS Bichette 3. 1B Guerrero Jr 4. DH Belt 5. C Kirk/Jansen 6. LF Varsho 7. 3B Chapman 8. 2B Merrifield 9. CF Kiermaier LHP 1. RF Springer 2. SS Bichette 3. 1B Guerrero Jr 4. C/DH Kirk 5. C/DH Jansen 6. 3B Chapman 7. CF Varsho 8. LF Merrifield 9. 2B Espinal
  5. I think that's what they'll do. Belt at DH vs RHP and Kirk/Jansen at DH vs LHP with the other at C.
  6. Happy New Year!!! Yeah, Alex Reyes would be nice. I wonder if he would accept a spring training invite with a guarantee whether he makes the team or not? It would be nice to add him the mix for the last couple spots.
  7. Happy New Year everyone!!!
  8. I want to see them do a beer belly/pregnant couple pose. That said, he is looking thinner in that pic.
  9. I agree. I like these lineups, assuming no further changes. RHP (5-9 goes LH, RH, LH, RH, LH with Biggio #9 ahead of Springer) 1. RF Springer 2. SS Bichette 3. 1B Guerrero Jr 4. C/DH Kirk 5. LF Varsho 6. C/DH Jansen 7. CF Kiermaier 8. 3B Chapman 9. 2B Biggio LHP 1. RF Springer 2. SS Bichette 3. 1B Guerrero Jr 4. C/DH Kirk 5. C/DH Jansen 6. 3B Chapman 7. CF Varsho 8. LF Merryfield 9. 2B Espinal
  10. Thanks. We can only hope for sure. I'm hoping KK & Varsho spend much of the offseason at the Performance Complex with Mattingly. Hell, Vladdy should as well. Pitch recognition improvement could help all 3 significantly.
  11. After the Moreno trade, I would look to extend Jansen this offseason before he does just that and prices himself out at Realmuto levels.
  12. I agree. Shapiro doesn't give off spectrum vibes, and he would most certainly stop that in the internal discussion phase.
  13. This is why I'm generally curious if Atkins would make an offer to Bauer.
  14. They did sell high on Martin when the power dipped so you could be onto something. Maybe they feel Moreno's power never returns after his wrist injury in AA?
  15. No qualms whatsoever about what he adds defensively. Him and KK allow Springer to act like a statue on LF and preserve his health, hopefully for a full-season. There's infinite value in a full season of Springer ABs. Thanks. Will look at his FG and unhide the minors numbers. Will need to hang my hope hat on this.
  16. Yeah that's definitely the hope. I just don't see as much red in his Savant page, like we did with Nootbar, where we could actually dream on rockets making it through the infield defense. In this case, we're hoping dribblers make it through... Not exactly the greatest recipe to dream on imo.
  17. My thoughts exactly. He's Grichuk from the left side offensively. He's prime Kiermeyer defensively. I'm just not sold on the offense.
  18. I do not like this trade at all. We got an all defense guy who is Grichuk with the bat. Moreno could have a 6 fWAR within the next 3 years and I wouldn't be surprised at all.
  19. I'm actually super curious which team bites and signs him. Could Atkins actually put in his earplugs to social discourse and just do it to add fWAR to the rotation? I feel like they would have kept Osuna if the return wasn't good enough for them. It's interesting to discuss who would actually be in on Bauer and ultimately make the offer.
  20. This is true, but that's why a trade like this would be from a position of strength to fill another need.
  21. Sure, but Javier could be a legitimate SP2, which is an All-Star level talent. That could be better than what we could get Bat-wise.
  22. He probably would yes lmao.
  23. Yeah, that last bit would end the call for me. The values don't line-up at all. He is probably my main target, but we don't need to trade anyone. We definitely hold the cards.
  24. Jansen for Alek Thomas is my pick and then signing a RP to round out the offseason. Hopefully all of that keeps us under. When does the Draft Pick penalty kick in? Is it 4th year of repeat offenders?
