Coming out of the All-Star break we faced some tough pitching but I thought there was a little bit more pushback, even against Skubal, they fought him hard even if they didn't score runs. I know we're missing Springer, but still.
I was hoping for a little more fight. I didn't expect to score a lot of runs but given how we had done against outstanding pitching previously this season, I thought there might be a little more battle.
That 2021 season. I don't know how much farther he could have taken it but holy s*** was that just stupid what he was doing.
1999 Pedro Martinez was probably the greatest I've ever seen especially given the era of offense.
But 2021 deGrom was doing some truly special things.
It started off well, but it hasn't been very good recently. Especially lately.
I understand it's tough to beat good pitching but it's been a little disheartening seeing how much capitulation there has been from our offense.
Well as much as it sucks having to continue to face these pitchers and watch the offense look mostly inept, it's tremendous preparation for the postseason. You just hope nobody loses their mojo because it's a confidence killing couple of weeks.
And of course you hope it doesn't cost you too much in the standings.
Spanky lurking in the background because ooh I had the audacity to say four walks is not an encouraging start. Because it isn't.
That's not the equivalent of saying this kid's a complete flunky and should be burned at the stake. Except only in your warped mind.
You're a complete🤡.
But you keep me entertained so you have some value.
Yeah, obviously nobody is giving up on the kid after one start. It also doesn't mean nothing. It's his first set of data points and we'll see where it goes.
Only gripe I would have is I felt he was pushing it by letting Max start the 8th. I know Max wanted to but you can't let him dictate these things.
He gives up a lot of fly balls, they were hitting some balls well. It's only a one-run game. You also would not ideally want Little to come in with runners on.
