  1. What would happen if we leave Baltimore with a game or two unplayed at this point? I assume nothing if they won't matter in the standings, but with KC, they might. Would they make us play on the tie-breaking day? That would suck massively.
  2. f*** Sale and his pitching in meaningless games to mediocre opponents. Price all the way.
  3. The D loss isn't as important if Estrada is pitching like he has. The bottom line is that perception is reality in the mind of a pitcher. If Estrada thinks it matters having Navarro in there, then it matters. Do whatever it takes to keep Estrada's smoke and mirrors working. Him not imploding is more important than a few extra innings for Martin.
  4. I would put Navarro in. I wouldn't mess around with a pitcher who skates on thin margins. It's 3 AB's. It's not the end of the world.
  5. Some handle it better than others, but the real alpha guys can be over-the-top obnoxious. I think JD is probably one of those guys.
  6. I just hope we clinch on the field, right in front of Showalter. Hopefully, the Yankees game ends first with them losing, although Yankees/Red Sox games are notoriously long. If Red Sox win, we'll need a rain delay, or to really beat the hell out of the O's with long top innings. I prefer the latter option.
  7. Yup. I get a sense that Josh would be a pain in the rear in a losing team's clubhouse.
  8. Angels don't concern me in the least.
  9. So if somebody offers you a player that you feel is worth $100 million through 2020, but has the same contract as Tulo, whereas you see Tulo as a player that, if you were to sign him to a contract, you would value him as no more than 70 million over the same period, how does Reyes money factor into the analysis? Would you make that deal, or not make that deal?
  10. So, if you think Tulo on the open market would be a $20 million player, combined, over the next two years ($10 mill per year) you are saying it's like him being a $32 million dollar player per year since you get the $10 million in value for two years plus the value of not paying Reyes $22 mill per year over that same term? Or am I misunderstanding your point?
  11. I can't figure out if that was intentional or if they really are that stupid. I have to believe it was intentional. It's too difficult to believe somebody can be that stupid.
  12. Have fun! Don't forget to burn the rat infested joint to the ground on your way out.
  13. Specifically mad at Lind for not scoring. The runners on base didn't matter given the score and inning, Lawrie is an idiot who doesn't understand what most baseball fans understand by the age of 10.
  14. Managers are almost completely irrelevant. A poor one might cost you a game or two, but most of them make interchangeable decisions that even out over the course of the year. I don't think he's a poor manager, he's average, which is fine. I hope Gibby wins, just for fun. I have little issue with his bullpen management as well as with his lineups and subs most times. We can all bitch about a decision here and there, it's the nature of the game, but all in all, he's fine.
  15. I managed to get to third base in senior kindergarten but, sadly, failed to have a threesome by the age of 12.
  16. Ah the magic number. I've had to explain this to a couple of younger folks in the last few weeks. I suppose only those of a certain age can appreciate it's nostalgic value.
  17. I find Toronto baseball fans (actual baseball fans, that is) to be more into current metrics than American Yankees fans I've interacted with, they have more old school philosophies. Regardless, I was speaking to attendance, which is what this thread is about, and I believe they react much the same way as Jays fans or most any other fans given similar situations.
  18. Yankees fans are no better or worse than Jays fans. If situations were reversed we'd see the same situation reversed. There is nothing more annoying than bandwaggoners getting on some sort of high horse about attendance and kicking the Yankees' fans while they are down. -1 for the lousy post of the OP. -1000 for making me defend Yankees fans.
  19. Solid pickup to give us added depth through the rest of the regular season.
  20. s*** happens. The baseball gods gave us back Stroman earlier than expected and required a sacrifice in return. If I had to choose, I'd rather have Stroman given how desperately we need a true number 2 behind Price. Who'd have thought that the pickup of Pennington could actually end up being quite important?
  21. I don't know, given the complaining going on, I have to assume they don't. If they do, this thread is quite the waste of time.
  22. Truth is, they should offer to just give a physical stub to fans that want one. The cost would be negligible, especially given the proportion of fans that would really want one.
  23. I'm going to support you here Gemione, partially because I do understand you point from a nostalgic/collectible standpoint, but mostly to be contrarian given the haters that are pissing on you for it. Please post more in the future, new posters are always welcome.
  24. We're probably screwed in that game either way, so might as well start the guy with the higher ceiling. Buehrle is basically a sure bet to get lit up, Stro will probably be so amped that the Yankees will feast on his poor location, but at least there's SOME chance he'll put it together. At least we know he's got the raw stuff to get them out. Honestly, Hutch might be the safest bet in that game, which is frightening.
