  1. Kikuchi should not be on the WC roster. Perhaps later rounds in case of mop up innings. There just isn't enough of a sample to draw enough trust in him. I don't know, if he goes out tomorrow and dominates over 5 innings, maybe you ride him while he's hot and put him on the roster, but I could see this guy falling to bits when the pressure of a big moment arrives.
  2. I'm fine either way. If Mahoah is comfortable with Kirk, I wouldn't mess with it. They should both be in the lineup anyhow and I think they both will be. People's moods move with the wind, Jansen is hot again, Kirk is cold, so people want him instead of Kirk, but it could easily flip on a dime at any given moment and Kirk could go red hot again. They are both fantastic catchers and hopefully they both are hot in the postseason.
  3. I can't speak to the rust issue with Espinal, that could be a factor, but otherwise Option 2 against a lefty is clearly the better option. Clearly. Offensively and defensively. Tapia is s***, but he's shittier against LHP. His defense is meh. Again, the rust issue could be a factor with Espinal, then again a bit of extended rest may be a good thing for him. Either way, I'm going option 2 against Ray without a second thought.
  4. Forfeits are the Bogeyman in baseball. I've been a big advocate of them in blowout games. But instead, managers throw out valuable relievers or position players and make a complete mockery of the game instead. This is another type of instance in which a forfeit is warranted. The only thing I would ensure however is that you announce that you will forfeit well ahead of time so that all 420 fans in Baltimore know not to show up.
  5. s*** what a bonus that would be if we could rest our pen. We could have white and Kikuchi pitch 162 if we had to.
  6. I have game 3 tickets that I hope I don't have to use.
  7. I do wonder about the Rays' motivation. Seems they kind of handed today's game away by using a garbage reliever to give up the lead. Cash certainly didn't manage that game the way he normally does.
  8. Thought it was his shoulder initially. That'll probably kill his playoffs. That sucks.
  9. I didn't mean to suggest they were trying to lose tonight. Obviously they still want to win because they have a chance to play at home, but if they fail, they might make decisions in the next couple days with an eye towards Cleveland instead. If you don't think that professional teams don't intentionally manipulate their chances in order to try to pick playoff opponents then I don't know what to tell you because it does happen. It definitely happens in the NBA probably more than other sports. Now, I don't know which team Seattle would rather play or if they have a strong preference either way, but if they do have a preference for Cleveland it will affect their decision making.
  10. Playing at home helps, quite frankly our record home and road this season suggests that it's not that much of a big deal but postseason maybe it matters a little bit more. But the team you face absolutely does matter. Tampa bay is a better team than Seattle, so given the choice I think myself, most of the fan base and certainly the front office desperately would rather play Seattle and take our chances from there. I don't think that's a particularly outlandish statement.
  11. If Mariners were smart they would pitch him against us plenty. A left hander with a change up? That's our Kryptonite.
  12. That may be the first time Mike Wilner actually informed me of anything in my life.
  13. Maybe you think we're the greatest team in baseball and playing at home somehow makes us invincible, but I'm a realist and I want the best matchup. Clearly, anybody with common sense can see, that is not Tampa bay, it's Seattle. It's not to say Seattle can't beat us, nor is it to say that we can't be Tampa, but you always want the better odds, and Seattle are a better matchup for us.
  14. They aren't tanking at the moment because they still have a chance to play at home, but if they lose that chance tonight I could see them resting players and not being too upset about moving down in the standings.
  15. That's why I'm concerned they may play themselves right down to the six seed, and there may be some intent to it.
  16. Do the Tigers still have that great bullpen or have there been injuries or whatever I haven't been following them.
  17. Agreed but I don't want Seattle to completely fall apart against Detroit. I don't want Tampa Bay in the first round.
  18. f***ing Baltimore and the constant miserable f***ing weather. Oh well. Call the game, save as much of our bullpen as possible.
  19. I'm not sure why Cavan is even batting there, I guess unless Schneider wants to see if he's a completely useless **** in which he proved himself to be.
  20. I feel like people are sleeping on Cleveland a bit. I don't think they're going to be the walk in the park that everybody is expecting them to be.
  21. I don't know if I can really say they choked. Atlanta's just a better team and caught up with them over a period of time. Mets are having a fantastic season. One of those two very good teams was going to have to play in the wild card just like the NL West last year. That's baseball.
  22. Really don't like the pitching matchups for this Baltimore series, I think people are underestimating how difficult this series might be. Baltimore can afford to throw everything they have left at us. And if they can f*** us even a little bit they'll be happy to.
  23. Kelenic is 2 years away from being 2 years away.
  24. Did you guys know that the Mariners made the postseason? In case you ever forget just watch a Mariners broadcast, they'll remind you about 12 times per inning.
