I'm okay with Bassitt, the Berrios contract is the one that really hurts because of the term and escalation at the back end. His decline is truly baffling and inexplicable. Looks like he's still got the stuff to be a good pitcher though, so we can only hope for a bounce back at some point, but damn.
This is a team that still needs a front-line starter. Ideally Gausman and somebody else is 1-2, Manoah and (the previous version of) Berrios are 3-4 and Bassitt is your 5. That would be a true contending rotation. But we're missing that other front line guy and, for now, missing that version of Berrios.
