  1. I'm okay with Bassitt, the Berrios contract is the one that really hurts because of the term and escalation at the back end. His decline is truly baffling and inexplicable. Looks like he's still got the stuff to be a good pitcher though, so we can only hope for a bounce back at some point, but damn. This is a team that still needs a front-line starter. Ideally Gausman and somebody else is 1-2, Manoah and (the previous version of) Berrios are 3-4 and Bassitt is your 5. That would be a true contending rotation. But we're missing that other front line guy and, for now, missing that version of Berrios.
  2. I don't wish injury on anybody, but I'm not going to cry for a division rival missing a key piece. Then again, I was one of those that did cheer Kevin Durant getting hurt in the finals. I guess the fact that a multi, multi, multi millionaire, former multiple time champion, suffering a non-life threatening, or even career ending injury, who we all knew was still going to sign for many, many millions of dollars to rehab while having the resources to have all his needs tended to while he rehabs kind of makes me feel like that's not actually a real life tragedy, and I have the right to want a championship more than I'm hurt for the life he's still going to have even with an ouchie in his achilles. But I digress....
  3. Ah the NY series. MFer looked like a legit star for like, 10 minutes or so.
  4. If we're talking championship caliber, no. It could get us through the regular season (if their arms don't fall off because of a s***** rotation, which I think is a much more urgent need), but in the playoffs, pen needs more swing and miss. We needed it last season, and it cost us dearly. We still need it this season. A power lefty would be nice but isn't necessarily a must. I'm not convinced of Romano yet, just like I wasn't convinced of him last year. I'd feel better if he were a setup guy. I think we need another couple of elite arms. I'm willing to see what Pearson has, but I don't expect him to be a solution because he simply has never done it yet over any reasonable sample. Green is a good low risk pickup but we just don't know what he'll be. Even then, he's had one year where I would say he was truly elite and other years where he was really good. I don't necessarily expect him to be the solution either. Maybe a piece but not the primary solution. More quality arms with swing and miss stuff at the back end will be desperately needed. But holy crap this rotation is a REAL concern.
  5. It's upsetting that the best lefty we have is Mayza. Another failure of the offseason for the front office.
  6. Unless a pine falls on his head.
  7. Boy this would be frustrating to be on the other side of
  8. Realistically Manoah on a championship team should be a number three or four. He's not a big strikeout guy and he doesn't have an out pitch to lefties. He's good but people got unrealistic expectations based on last year.
  9. Don't worry they're still good enough to beat the Kansas city royals' of the world. Just don't expect them to beat good teams consistently.
  10. The almost complete lack of attention to our pitching staff in the offseason is astounding to me considering how much of a problem it was and is going to be.
  11. Onto the next one
  12. Easy peasy. Good night.
  13. Pearson is a long, long way out of my circle of trust.
  14. That's his time
  15. Atta boy Bo. They should have kept the lefty out there.
  16. Considering our problem over the last couple of years was the inability to hit left-handers you would think that would have been a focus in the offseason. But no instead they just picked up left-handed bats 🤦🏻*♂️
  17. Our garbage bin pickup hasn't done much for us today.
  18. Nice rebound outing by Bassitt, too many walks but all in all I'll take it. Especially since it look like this s*** was going off the rails quick
