Stop being so dramatic. First of all, it would rarely be used for entire games, most of the time it would be blow outs. Second of all, as far as entire games go, you could have missed any one of those things you mentioned above if the game had been canceled for any other legitimate reason.
Never have teams been more concerned with protecting their assets as they are now, forfeiting games helps protect your assets and quite frankly why should teams care whether you want to go see the first round draft pick have four at bats or the left fielder pitch an inning?
Now, I do understand why Major League Baseball would care and thus it's probably a pipe dream to ever see forfeits, but if it was just up to the teams themselves, I'm sure a lot of them have already thought about it and would do it in a heartbeat if they knew it wouldn't create a groundswell of s*** from media and MLB. For me? Forfeits exist to some extent in other venues, so I don't think it's a big deal. It's just the more alien to major professional sports leagues and their fan so people freak out about the idea of it.
