  1. I don't give a f*** how many injuries and perverts they have, I'll take my chances with Minnesota. So if we do get in, I wouldn't mind losing just enough games to let someone else pass us.
  2. He's a solid pitcher, people are being a bit hard on him. Maybe not the best guy to use back to back days.
  3. Whomever they have working replay fire every single one of their asses. We have to be the worst replay team in the league. What are you looking at exactly? How can you not tell that the shortstop is on the left side of second? You actually have to be stupid, if you're not blind you have to be stupid.
  4. Injuries and perverts and whatever, can't stop the Rays. Still the best team in the American League for my money.
  5. They were hitting him hard
  6. Do we have the horses today to survive this Rays onslaught?
  7. Defense bailing out Kikuchi today. Rays are a f***ing ridiculously impressive organization. I'm jelly.
  8. Mayza was probably up in case the nail thing didn't allow Romano to pitch. But you're right, Romano is worse vs lefties, Lowe struggles vs lefties, it made too much sense, but you're forgetting the rule: Romano's the closer. Do you understand: CLOSER! The rules of God strictly prohibit taking the closer out for the purposes of competent managing. How I wish the role of closer never existed, and managers would just manage the 9th the way they manage every other f***ing inning. But no, because the guy in the ninth inning has a title suddenly all managers are strictly beholden to the rule. They're willing to do things like take Snell out of a game and throw away the world series, but analytics go out the window when you have a title: closer. It's the one situation in which managers no longer manage.
  9. Just looks like a normal post-game night in America
  10. The f*** are you talking about?
  11. How about being Cincinnati and blowing a 9-0 lead at home against Pittsburgh in an absolute must-win to stay in touch? Talk about a giant rusty s***** nail in the coffin.
  12. So if there's a tiebreaker between Houston, Toronto and Seattle, it would go to head to head against those teams. Since we're 7-6 and Seattle has crushed Houston this season, I guess Seattle finishes first, we finish second and Houston finishes third, which means Houston's out, we're wildcard 3 and Seattle is wildcard 2. Is this correct?
  13. Houston losing 6 of 8 games (so far) to Kansas City and Oakland down the stretch. It was on a silver platter and they knocked the platter and all the champagne over. Sports are wild.
  14. I'll let you know after tomorrow's results.
  15. So what happens if there's a tie for second in the West and they're tied with the Blue Jays record wise? Is the order in the west determined first and then the order of the wild card or are they all considered tied for a wild card and there's a three-way tie break?
  16. He's a team knob gobbler. I do wish we weren't exposed to Seattle's broadcast.
  17. I'm not sure what was available, maybe asking prices just weren't met, like with Hader. I certainly have been putting blame on the front office all season. I didn't like the off-season, I was surprised how many people here seemed to like what they did. I didn't think we're closer to a world series this year than we were last year and I didn't think we were a world series team last year. 2021 may have been the window, and we let a lousy bullpen destroy that. They built a very good team, but It's a little too deficient. Granted there aren't a lot of great teams out there outside of Atlanta due to injuries and suspensions and whatnot. If our offense was just a little bit better, or if our rotation just have a little bit more frontline talent, I might believe in this team given the competition, but it just seems to fall a little too short for me.
  18. It would make a difference in the playoffs to have a guy like Bautista with consistent one-run leads. We have a pitching staff that's constantly pitching with a gun to its head because of our offense. It's not like we have three aces to constantly hold teams down to one or two runs either. The closer you play to the margins the better your pitching has to be to lock it down. It's not Romano's fault but it does magnify his role.
  19. It was hard to watch but I forced myself to. You ignored everything else I said. The type of team we have puts incredible pressure on our bullpen and closer, if we were better in other areas we wouldn't have to be perfect at the end.
  20. Nobody expects anybody to be Rivera, Spanky is just being a dick.
  21. See my response to Spanky. If we had a great offense, or better frontline starting talent, we wouldn't need Romano to be elite but this team plays it way too close to the margin. Again, I'm not blaming Romano for that, it's just the reality of the team we have.
  22. If we had the 2021 offense, or better frontline talent in the rotation, I'd be more than fine with him as the closer, but this team is always going to play on thin margins because of their inability to score a lot of runs. So it puts incredible pressure on the bullpen, especially on the closer always having to defend one run games. If you're going to play like that you kind of need an elite closer. I assume you watched the playoffs last year, I assume you saw what happened to your stud.
  23. He's fine, exactly, not elite. Some of the guys you name there are clearly better than him. There's a difference between good and great. It matters. I never said he sucked I just said he's not elite. He's about as good as Mayza or Swanson, very good pitchers all of them, but a notch below the upper echelon. Those top guys are tough to get, but it's nice to have them.
  24. A stud? Come on dude now you're just being stupid.
