  1. Schwellenbach fractures his elbow. Ouch. Somehow, he's expected to pitch again in September, which I can't see happening.
  2. I hear what you're saying, but Cal has played in 1 less game and has 7 fewer PA's this season. If Raleigh played in the NL or was having this type of year in almost any other season - he'd be the clear cut MVP. But how many 220+ wRC+ seasons have their been in the past 50 years of baseball? This is Bond's level sh*t. What Raleigh is doing is also historic for a catcher. It will be fun to see if he can sustain it over the course of a full season.
  3. Do you guys think catcher's defensive value is underrated in the fWAR calc? Obviously Cal deserves a ton of credit and would get lots of votes if happened today. But Judge is the MVP right now.
  4. Judge - and it's not really close. 222 wRC+ (v. 184 for Cal) and 6.5 WAR (v. 5.6 for Cal). A few extra HRs for Cal are insignificant.
  5. I need Springer in the all-star game this year. What a bounce back. What a player. My fav!
  6. Against one of the best pitchers in baseball. Stop trolling.
  7. This is what I expect to happen. Even if it leaves us with only 1 lefty in the pen for awhile.
  8. That's a huge f*cking win boys. Let's take Game 2 on Canada Day tomorrow! How about this team boys!
  9. The 2024 draft class seems to be killing it. There's what - 5 guys already in the majors and guys like Yesavage and others having amazing 1st seasons in the minors. Love to see it.

and that's the end of the Marner era. Not much of a return for him from Vegas. I was hoping for a more impactful player than Roy. I do think Treliving did well to resign JT and extend Knies - both below what I thought they'd get (albeit the JT one is a little long). Curious to see what else he does.
  11. The report literally said he may be ready to return right after the all-star break...why would you just write-off the season? There's got to be some hope he can return and be productive down the stretch.
  12. "Anthony Santander suffered a left shoulder subluxation in May, the Blue Jays revealed Monday. The Jays had been calling the injury shoulder inflammation, though to be fair, that was the main issue that caused him to go on the IL weeks after he was hurt crashing into a wall in a game against the Angels. Santander is nearly ready to resume swinging now, potentially putting him in line to return right after the All-Star break."
  13. It appears Lauer is arbitration eligible next year too? That's a pretty nice option for us to have.
  14. I sure did. He's unreal.
  15. I was lucky enough to be at the Steer 3 HR and near no-no by Nick Martinez last night. About as good as an 8-1 blow out game can get!
  16. I'm sure glad he found out he would be inducted into the HOF before he passed. It's too bad he didn't make it to the inauguration day though...
  17. Tyson said it best. Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it.
  18. Ironically, Vlad is actually ahead of where he was offensively this year v. last year (at the same point in time). Obviously no guarantee he goes off the rest of this season (like he did last year), but it also reminds you that there is still time for him to be an offensive force this year. Time will tell.
  19. As a baseball fan, it's amazing to see this type of season. History in the making really. And while I know he's been a 30+ HR bat for a few years now, this does remind me of the Brady Anderson season - or when Beltre hit 48 HRs. I'm not trying to accuse him of any funny business, but simply comparing the element of surprise and awww that comes with this type of power outburst. I'd love nothing more than to see him finish with 50+
  20. I think the reality is there are different ways to build a winning team. The 2019 Nationals leaned on their starters so much that Strasburg and Corbin essentially died winning that championship. There's no single blue print on how to do this - and that's the beauty of it.
  21. Now that Sale is hurt, I doubt any true ace is moved (even if AA said he wouldn't move him). I think you still try and add and hope that a chance of scenery and/or a playoff run sparks a hot streak from one of the guys you mentioned. Given the Jays current situation, adding someone with some control would be ideal (and costly), but there's really no guarantee they'll be an "upgrade" over Gaus/Berrios/Bassitt. But we do need to remember the following pitchers started game in the World Series last year: Luis Gil, Carlos Roden, Clarke Schmidt, Walker Buehler, Ben Casparius. LA also had Flaherty and Yamamoto and of course NY had Cole. Yamamoto and Cole are aces, but Flaherty isn't. in 2023: Andrew Heaney, Jordan Montgomery, Max Scherzer, Joe Mantiply, Brandon Pfaadt and Merrill Kelly all started WS games. Texas had Eovaldi and Arizona had Gallen as their "top pitchers" that year. Neither were aces. Aces certainly help. I'd love one! But teams are winning the WS without Randy Johnson & Curt Schilling at the top of their rotation. IMO, adding another solid #2/#3 to Gausman/Bassitt/Berrios/Max/Manoah will give us a shot to go deep in the playoffs. It's really about getting them firing on all cylinders at the right time.
  22. I wish I was in SD. I'm in Cincinnati at my kids Perfect Game baseball tournament. We're bringing the whole family and catching a Reds game (we're so busy with ball/sports that this qualifies as the family vacation). I've been to Great American Ball Park before, but it will be the first time for the kids. We'll make the best of it.
  23. Giants option Tyler Fitzgerald to AAA
