  1. Yeah - I agree. Doubtful everything comes together for a trade like that to happen. Maybe a 3-way deal where someone else gets Bo and the Brewers get players with control in return....but 3-way trades are even more difficult to pull off. Fun to chat about though.
  2. Blair and Barker were saying after the game last night how Lukes is a glue guy and a big part of the clubhouse. The guy has endured and it's awesome to see him having success at the ML level. They said you 100% want Lukes on your playoff roster and that it would be a mistake to push him off the team from a team chemistry perspective. No idea if that's true - but I do think Lukes is a grinder who's worked hard to hone his craft. I suspect the guys in the clubhouse respect that and I'm pretty comfortable with him in the lineup v. the right matchups. He does everything "ok" and he certainly competes for you day in and day out. Seems like a good, cheap #4/#5 OFer.
  3. They certainly need to avoid the trap of letting off the gas. It will be difficult given how mentally taxing the last 2 series have been. Hopefully the all-star break gives them motivation to keep grinding for 6 more games before they get a break.
  4. Yeah - we're just spit balling. Obviously we'd need to see Woodruff shove more before you'd target him. Unfortunately, the 'ace' market is paper thin in the year we need one.
  5. Yeah he's always a solid player. He's 31 and we have him under control for next year too. Hits lefties well, but holds his own v. RHP too. Wonder what he would cost. He seems like a bit of a luxury pickup as we likely need to focus on the rotation/bullpen first.
  6. I doubt anyone is overly interested in trading for Bryan Reynolds based solely on his contract. He isn't a bad player, but not the type of guy I want locked up until 2030 - especially since he's already 30. The promise he showed in 2021 (6.3 WAR) has worn off and while he's not a terrible hitter, his defense tanked.
  7. I'm not sure anyone is going to fix Walker Buehler. It appears LA squeezed out every last ounce of juice he had in his arm during the 2024 playoffs. He rolled back to the clock to help them win the championship - and that landed him another $21M - but I think he's toast at this point.
  8. Why? Because he's concerned about what fans think? That wouldn't be a good look. You move him to whomever you think offers you the best deal. I don't even buy the nonsense about not wanting to trade within your own division. Take the best deal for you.
  9. This isn't true - like at all. It started with Vlad, Bo, Teo, Gurriel, then Manoah, Kirk, Moreno (who became Varsho), now it's Barger, Clement and a pile of bullpen arms with a farm system that is stacked with high upside starting pitching. I know it's been frustrating - that second wave seemed like it was a dud, but prospects aren't always perfect and development isn't linear. It's unpredictable at best. It's a lot of fun to see so many home grown players contributing these days. Keep it coming Ross!
  10. The Jays were WELL overdue to have some good luck/outcomes.
  11. Can AA move Sale while he's on the IL if the other team agrees to it? I still think there's a chance he moves him. The question is how much does the price drop due to the uncertainty of that injury? If the answer is "not that much" than I think there's a chance AA moves him. I think his comments before the injury was just gamesmanship to drive the price up.
  12. Woodruff for Bo? That's not what the Brewers would want (an expiring contract), but that might be the type of player they want to help them win this year...
  13. Won't most of these players end up on the team anyway as injury replacements? There's always a # of players who pull out due to injury.
  14. Yeah I don't mind Barker. He's got the old country bumpkin thing going for him.
  15. That isn't true at all. Several people felt Barger wasn't strong enough defensively to play 3rd regularly. I believe the #'s supported that last year, but clearly he's out the work in. He's become a franchise cornerstone overnight. I believe these are the waves of talent Atkins referred to.
  16. Kids are going to start wearing #47 across Ontario next year...
  17. I wonder if their fans are calling for all the coaches and AA to be fired yet...
  18. Yes, he was I believe...no idea if that caused an injury or not.
  19. Sprained left ankle at least - shouldn't be a long term thing
  20. Welcome! That an incredible 1st post. I love it.
