  1. you get a refund if the games aren't played sir.
  2. Jesus Votto has been the BOSS this year. Hey Brandon Phillips - stick it!
  3. The Governator is a man's man. I echo this.
  4. C'mon - if given the option, 100% of people prefer not to get rained on.
  5. Exactly....which "actual result" is more meaningful RA? Wins or ERA?
  6. LMAO at Wilner and Blair replacing AA. Blair is an embarrassment to people's indigence.
  7. disagree. who actually enjoys sitting in the rain watching baseball? you see in other stadiums how the fans clear out when it's raining? the whole point of having a roof would be to avoid that BS.
  8. Christ - aren't there NFL teams (Raiders?) who play in stadiums that hold MLB games? If the NFL can play on that type of setup, surely to go the Argos can.
  9. F that man. A controlled, comfortable environment should be preferred by all fans. I think they should shut the damn roof in the summer sometimes. Nobody enjoys baking in the sun on a 30 degree day. Cancer sucks.
  10. Don't look now but Goins has put up a 1.2 WAR in 317 PA's while cast off Reyes put up 1.0 WAR in his 311 PA's with the Jays before being traded.
  11. I'd be interested in this if you have 100 infields.
  12. It would be really nice to see his power developing a little more - but it's hard to argue with that advance approach at the plate.
  13. Um - what if you need a big strikeout in the 8th inning?
  14. Bases loaded walk would do it.....oh....wait, we're talking about JPA - strike that from the record.
  15. I'd do this too after the Cubs games on WGN (we had one of those huge big ass satellite dishes). By the time I got home from school it would be about the 6th or 7th inning. I'd watch the rest of the game, then run outside to pitch against the back of the garage wall (only child growing up on the farm). I'd try and copy the deliveries and pitches... I still pitch competitively to this day...good times.
  16. I guess I was referring more to the living conditions / quality of life.....I guess that depends on a number of different factors. I'm not sure why, but I just find it odd you'd go from Mexico to DR. I guess it's the conception that people immigrate to a "better" county and I don't immediately thing of the DR as being "better" than Mexico. Maybe I'm over thinking this / I could just be dumn.
  17. You're Mexican and moved to the DR? Is that a step up? I'm relatively new - but I must say this board is awesome and I appreciate the interaction.
  18. I grew up on the farm without a lot of money. The Sears catalog was gold for me as well....Good times.
  19. I did the Wrigley tour last fall (after the season was done unfortunately). Amazing place - I do love Chicago. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
  20. My first memory of baseball was back in like 1990. I'd come home every day and catch the end of the Cubs games on WGN. Sandberg was my favorite, but they also had Grace, Dunston (and his cannon), Dawson and Greg Maddux. My dad would still be working (farmer) and I'd have the TV to myself. The Jays games were on at night (and not always on TV) and dad would dominate the TV when he got home, so I couldn't watch them as much. Definitely became a Jays fan in 92/93... Although at the same time, I also started becoming a White Sox fan....no idea why. Their games were also on WGN from time to time. That was back when it was Black Jack McDowell, Fernandez, Alverez, Bere, Roberto Hernandez and Big Frank Thomas - my favorite player. I also loved the Braves back in the day too with Maddux, Smoltz, Glavine, Jones, etc. I was a die hard White Sox fan for probably a good 12-15 years (although I still followed the Jays). I converted back to the Jays in about 2006 I think +/-. Really have gotten into it since AA was hired. This season is by far my most enjoyable ever though as my first born son (who I named Maddux ), who's just 5 has become a huge baseball / Blue Jays fan. If we aren't playing on the front lawn, we're watching the Jays game. He's right into knowing the players names/numbers....Who knew I could enjoy this game so much...nothing better than him sitting in my arms watching the Jays make a magical run towards the playoffs for the first time in 22 years...
  21. Well that is amazing. BJ track pants - straight out of the Sears catalog. Thanks for posting this.
  22. I know everyone likes to rip the guy - but for me, reading about all the adjustments he'd made, all the hard work he's put in and to now see the results on the field is the type of feel good stories I love about baseball. I love learning and watching players develop. Hopefully this isn't a mirage, as he'd be very valuable if he could get his wRC+ up into the 90-95 range.
  23. Miggy won't have the counting stats (which shouldn't have a ton of weight, but we know they do) and his team sucks, but he's having the quietest .370/.473/.611, 195 wRC+ (career high) in my recent memory....
  24. I think he's hurt isn't he?
  25. With the uncertainty surrounding Travis - this is a very welcome improvement. We need him (whoever thought we'd say that).
