That in itself proves my point. Mike Trout is great every year....every year. Sometimes he has good players around him and they make the playoffs. Other years, the team around him sucks and the teams sucks. Mike Trout is the best player in baseball in both situations.

I think there's a decent chance he feels like he got ripped off on the previous deal he signed with the Jays and has the mindset that he has to get overpaid this time around to make up for it. That of course is incredible short sighted (given the Jays took a big risk on him after 1 good season).
All sediments aside, there are short term FA's who will provide similar value, without costing us a draft pick. We add a draft pick when he signs elsewhere. Win-win.
Don't get me wrong - I agree.....but most said that about Loup after his 2015 season (Christ you could even suggest that about Loup after this season).
