    Can't afford to sign Machado, but will pay Chris Davis $23M a year until 2022. Excellent management. Edit - interesting stat of the day. Machado stole 20 bases in 2015 and 0 in 2016. Fantasy owners must have loved that.

    Revere doesn't really need a platoon partner. His career splits suggests he's actually better vs. LHP. That might make him a good candidate though, as he could play fulltime if Upton turns into a pumpkin. I'm find with bringing Revere back on the cheap, especially since we need 2 OFers, but I can't help but wonder if we'd be better off giving Pompey that opportunity. We know what Revere's ceiling is and it's not very inspiring. Pompey's ceiling may be 2015 Ben Revere - but there's also a chance it's much higher. It was so hard watching Revere throw in LF.

    I don't think you post 160 and 148 wRC+ seasons at age 22 and 23 and then completely turn into a pumpkin. He's exactly the type of player we should try and acquire. However, it's a bit two fold. You might be able to get him at a reasonable price due to his off-field issues....but the off-field issues are the only reason he's available in the first place. If many opine it would take Stroman to get Eaton (who's been significantly better over the past 2 years and is under control longer, at a reasonable rate), then is it safe to assume the cost for Puig should be SIGNIFICANTLY less? There in lies the true x-factor in this entire discussion. Puig's ceiling is higher, but if the cost is near equal - you take Eaton 100% of the time.

    I'm kind of torn on this. I hate the SJW's who want fairness for all and for nobody to be offended...but on the other hand, I realise that religion is the root of all evil and thus I'd rather suppress it whenever possible...

    2 things: 1. he can't play SS, nor could he play 2nd for an extended period, so he doesn't fully replace Barney/Goins. 2. Goins, Cola and Smoak don't have trade value sir. I doubt Zeke or Barney do either.

    Seems like a decent deal for the Braves. If the changes to his swing/approach stick, he'll be a steal and a good trade chip. His versatility would have been a big plus for the Jays, but adding another high K% guy would be hard to stomach. SIGN STEVE PEARCE NOW SHATKINS - the market is set.

    Great post. I would render a guess that MOST fans want to see them go toe to toe punching, kicking and kneeing the s*** out of one another. However, as noted, the sport is extremely technical....and that's exactly what the fans hate about it.

    I don't think Steamer's saw Pompey play defense last year. That said - if he could post a wRC+ of 95, I suspect he'd bring a lot of value to the team simply by running the bases well. If he could straighten out his defense, he could be Ender Inciarte lite. It's just such a risk to rely on him as a starter on this team. I can't see them doing that and suspect it would take an injury for him to get a real shot.
