  1. That could be the most irrelevant stat posted on this board in a long time. Just so you know - he had a wRC+ of 136 in 2006....sign him now!
  2. Pablo - yes. Terrible signing from the get go, but as BTS points out, he was only 28, still playing solid defense at 3rd base and the reigning WS MVP (not that it should have mattered). But Cespedes isn't a good example to use. He was a beast, coming off a 6.7 WAR season, providing excellent defense in the OF. He was significantly younger and more valuable than EE is right now. It was pretty remarkable that he didn't get a $125 - $150M deal last year, considering Chris Davis did......there - Chris Davis should be the example you use - although he's younger and his peaks have been much better than EE's (so don't bother).
  3. and 4.9 WAR in 2014 in only 103 games (383 PA's) - god damn, sign this man.
  4. Look at the stats, watch the TV, see it live...it all tells you the same thing - Pillar's a below average hitter. BTW - You need a new handle in the worst way...my god
  5. Gomez is an interesting case. He's still a plus runner and defender, but his bat completely dropped off the cliff over the past 2 years - with the exception of 130 PA's with Texas late last year, when he was phenomenal (wRC+ of 139). He seems like a prime candidate to sign a 1 year "prove it" contract and what better place to do that then in RF in a Blue Jays uni? That said, there's no way I'd be on his bat enough to give him a 2 or 3 year deal. That defense and base running is only going to decline.
  6. Can you add up all the RBI's well have on the team too? Thanks.
  7. http://i.imgur.com/7vwrNzP.gif
  8. Casuals are going to lose their minds when he signs elsewhere - claiming Rogers is so cheap. But if that's true - that's a very fair deal for EE and I'm satisfied with the approach the FO took. BTW - stop making new threads man. Just stop.
  9. Depends what the end game is with him. If you want to give him a legitimate shot as a starter, you can't jerk him in and out like you're suggesting. If you see him as a swingman ala Carlos Villanueva....then sure, do as you've suggested. In all likelihood - Danny Barnes can give you what Biagini did last year...
  10. Love Danny....he's taking Benoit's spot!
  11. What would Corbin cost? He seems like a good target
  12. Ideally you have Bolsinger and Biagini in AAA as your 6th and 7th. But that means you may have to open the wallet to replace Biagini in the pen....Joe Blanton?
  13. This adds up...
  14. That would mean one of the lefties would start vs. LHP...which would be incredibly stupid.
  15. I'm sure this is the case with some - but for me, it's about giving my kids opportunities. I acknowledge and accept there a very small chance my kids ever play beyond say a university level - but if they fall in love with a sport and show a desire to get better and push themselves - I won't hold them back (unless I ultimately can't from a financial perspective). There are simply too many positive life lessons you learn from rep sports. Kids internally pushing themselves, practicing to get better, hard work, teamwork and the ultimate reward to winning when you put in the hard work is something you carry for life. There are also lessons learned when cut from the team - or from losing the big game. This new thinking that simply participating is all you need to do is utter nonsense IMO.
  16. I never saw the appeal in spending all that money to go on the trip and see a game at another stadium (which is likely a once in a lifetime thing), only to spend it in a drunken haze. I have friends that do this yearly for football games. They go to a major city and spend all their time either in a hotel room drinking, drunk at a football game or at a bar. All the meals are fast food. Rinse and repeat. Give me the city tours, stadium tours, dinners at unique restaurants and a couple of beers at the ball game all day long.
  17. Yeah if not more.
  18. "save great seats in front" So your ticket is kind of general admission? Good to know though - because I f***ing despise people who's primary objective is to get loaded and party during a baseball game. Will avoid the bleachers like the plague.
  19. Perhaps - didn't affect his K/9 though...and we all know he isn't striking people out on that fastball..
  20. Can anyone explain why Cecil's GB% dropped so much last year? Low 50's for 3 years, then 42% last year. SSS? I noticed Loup's dropped from the mid 50's to about 40% last year too. Christ is he ever an enigma. He starts striking out way more and it seemingly makes him worse.
  21. why so? just curious.
  22. That in itself proves my point. Mike Trout is great every year....every year. Sometimes he has good players around him and they make the playoffs. Other years, the team around him sucks and the teams sucks. Mike Trout is the best player in baseball in both situations.
  23. What was wrong with him in 2013 and 2014? hang nail?
