  1. Perhaps what I should have noted is that based on the reports (including where he's played this season and in the AFL), it doesn't appear the Jays think he'll stick at 2nd base very long...so play him (along with the other bench type players in Gurriel & Drury) all over the diamond and see if you can find a fit. If the Jays see Biggio as a 2nd basemen (and their actions don't actually reflect their views), then yes, start him there the rest of the year and move Drury, Gurriel - even Sogard in LF/RF. Who cares.
  2. A. you're a troll, so I'm not sure why I'm doing this. B. there's been lots of reports the Jays staff don't believe Biggio will stick at 2nd base very long at all. I'd agree that they could give it an honest shot - as if he could stick there, that would be best for his value long term...and maybe that's what they'll do. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they float him around all over the diamond looking for the right fit.
  3. Sogard's got a wRC+ of 55 in May. He's turned back into a pumpkin. Let's see if Montoyo has the nuts to acknowledge that and move him into a back up role. Tough to do, seeing as he's been our best hitter so far. This is going to infuriate and confuse Buck and Tabby.
  4. I think at the end of the day - the answer is - WHO CARES. Who cares if Drury, Gurriel and Biggio play out of position. This season is all about throwing it against the wall to see if it sticks. If we find out that 2 of those 3 are actually average defensively in the OF - then great! We have more options moving forward. If they can't - at least we find that out. As long as they get at bats and we find out if they hit, I don't think this FO gives a flying f*** where they play.
  5. You sure love your simplistic, old school stats to judge performance eh? HRs, RBIs and errors.
  6. Fair enough. He's just saying Gurriel got sent down and played like s*** (after a brief hot streak). He didn't earn the call back to the majors. That's true. I've always just viewed Urena as a 25th man backup type. He's going to bounce around to fill a need and he can play some very solid defense. I think most had slightly higher hopes for Gurriel. I assume he's gotten rid of the yips; however, it would have been nice to see him show some tangible growth/improvements that may help his long term development before we bring him back to the majors. In all likelihood - he's a bust and is no different than Urena.
  7. I don't think anyone is actually suggesting we keep him here because he's a vet. They are suggesting we keep him because he'll probably have no value on the trade market and thus may provide more value to this team on a 2 year extension because he's still a productive 1st baseman.
  8. I mean - he's not wrong. Gurriel started hot, but his AAA numbers are s***. Has anyone read anything about his defense? did he get over the yips?
  9. Don't forget that Cashman gave up some legit pieces to get Drury in the first place.
  10. Cubs sign Kimbrel and we're in business!
  11. OK - fair enough. This started with a statement that he's on pace for 25 to 30 HRs and based on that, he wouldn't be an 'average' hitter...I tried to point out that HRs are not a good way to tell how good a hitter is (Duvall hit 31 HRs in 2017, while being a below average hitter. We can go back to the days of Tony Batista, Dante Bichette and Joe Carter or more examples if you'd like). Now the argument has morphed into someone who hits 30 HRs a year every year (I did overlook that). I'm kinda done with this though. Tellez needs to drop the K's, increase the BB's and become a guy who can post wRC+'s of 120+ to become an everyday regular. I hope he does.
  12. Go ask Yasmany Tomas how that's working out for him (https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=17171&position=OF) or Adam Duvall or Eric Thames
  13. Holy f***. Who do you think he was going to trade to get a Top 100 prospect? He's traded a pile of guys with little to no value for a bunch of fringy prospects/players. Somehow, he ended up with Grichuk and Thornton + a bunch of lottery tickets. They inherited a team with very little trade value on it. That's the reality man.
  14. We don't use HR's to judge abilities around here Rob. FWIW, Tellez has a wRC+ of 109 after his HR tonight. He's 9% better than the average hitter. That's not good enough when you factor in his awful base running and defense. That said, I love his swing path and strength. If he can drop his K% to the low 20's and increase the BB% to the 10 range, he could develop into a 120 wRC+ hitter - which would provide some value to this team moving forward. Time will tell.
  15. I heard or read that he's completely changed his swing path...and while it looks the same (super awkward because it's Pence) - it's not. The results have been pretty incredible so far.
  16. 0.2 WAR in 8 innings....same as Sam Gavigilio has provided in 32 innings! hard to imagine.
  17. Doesn't wRC+ take into account park factors and such?
  18. I see what you did there.
  19. Everyone is losing their minds in here because Biggio hasn't been called up yet. Try being Kevin Cron https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa597807&position=1B 26 year old first baseman for Arizona 21 HRs in 194 PA's, 13.9 BB% 16.5 K%, .335/.432/.807 slash line and a wRC+ of 185 in AAA
  20. What an incredibly logical statement that is.
  21. he had a twitter spat with Tim Anderson over bat flipping. He's a good old country boy who likes unwritten rules and anything old school.
  22. wk680's in a massive tailspin. He probably needs a little break from baseball as watching a rebuilding team is clearly too much for him to handle. He's making some incredibly short sighted judgments, based almost solely on assumptions (instead of facts). It's been difficult to watch. s***** baseball can get the worst of us all from time to time though.
  23. Those types of facts won't be tolerated in here Ray.
  24. Is Robbie Cano done?
  25. s*** - I knew I missed a few inconsequential trades!
