  1. Nice little ball park they have in Bradenton eh? Love the updates. Thanks John.
  2. Perhaps already mentioned, but apparently we checked in on Collin McHugh. I think he's a great target.
  3. I guess I just assumed that NCAA schools that make a s*** ton of money off their athletes could afford to buy the kids bats. Would manufacturers give bats to the top teams for the marketing exposure? I wonder how many bats a college kid would go through in 1 seasons.
  4. Yeah I'm aware of BBCOR bats (my kids are in youth ball so I'm researching aluminum/composite bats constantly). Just seems like they should switch to wood. I just read up on it a bit and it does sound like the cost of buying bats is the primary reason. That seems bizarre to me.
  5. I'm not sure you do...
  6. These announcers are one of the issues with the game today. f***
  7. Sorry - I assumed when they said it was about money that it was the manufacturers making it...not the cost to the NCAA team to buy bats...
  8. But almost all the companies that produce aluminum bats also produce wood bats. It can't the money in the # of bats purchased... If NCAA kids aren't using aluminum bats does it effect their marketing to Little League and High School?
  9. Can someone explain why the NCAA still allows aluminum bats? You can't even use aluminum in Bantam baseball in Ontario.
  10. Man - just reading this gets me really excited to watch our system develop over the next 2-3 years. I love following our farm as much as I do the big club.
  11. It's kind of sad because Camden Yards is a fantastic place to watch a baseball game.
  12. Remember back when Cecil went on the weighted ball program and transformed himself into a stud reliever for a couple of seasons? How sweet would it be to see history repeat itself.
  13. Not anymore....Sale will start the year on the IL with an elbow issue (and sickness?)
  14. I mean why be so pessimistic? Driveline and other training programs have produced some incredible results over the past 4-5 years. I don't know why you'd dismiss it so quickly.
  15. What's the average fastball of LH relievers?
  16. Makes sense to me. I'd love to know what teams are using and if some teams have significant advantages over others - and/or if this benefits certain pitchers a lot more than others.
  17. Better call up CC
  18. https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-derek-fisher-regrets-keeping-mum-astros-cheating/ I mean Derek Fisher sure seems to have publicly stated his regret. https://www.tampabay.com/sports/rays/2020/02/08/rays-morton-on-astros-cheating-i-regret-not-doing-more-to-stop-it/ Charlie Morton has publicly stated his regret. I don't listen to the PR ******** you heard from a couple of Astros players and their owner in that public interview. That isn't reality - that's them saying what they were told to say. I guess the reality is we have no idea how the players really feel about this, or how it will impact the rest of their lives. It may impact some a lot more than others. Personally, I suspect most truly regret it and will suffer from having to carry this with them for the rest of their careers and lives. Altuve goes from being one of the most beloved players in baseball - on his way to a potential HOF induction to the biggest villain in baseball. All so he can win a world series that is now almost universally considered tainted? I can't help but think this has had a huge negative impact on his life.
  19. And wouldn't living with those secrets and the shame that will now be associated with those players for the rest of their careers (lives?) be considered punishment? I mean great, they can claim they're world series champions, but when everyone else in the room seems them as frauds - doesn't it lose a lot of it's luster? I mean even their kids are going to have to grow up in an environment where they are recognized as the son/daughter of one of those cheating Astros.
  20. People who are projecting positional changes are simply playing the odds. Based on his profile, there's probably an 80% chance that Groshan's moves to 3rd base by the time he reaches the majors. Will there be a handful of players who ultimately prove they can stick (like Bo - who's really changed his body type since being drafted)? Of course there will be. That doesn't mean scouting reports should stop suggesting these players will ultimately move positions. I mean a scouting report in general is a summary of assumptions and projections based on previous data...
  21. Great quote by Boyd.
  22. A jerk and an idiot.
  23. Thanks Dick. I'm just pointing out he hasn't been remotely useful in a long time. There was lots of players who sign minor league deals with actual upside. Rzep isn't one of them
