Major League Baseball said in a statement Wednesday that it is "beginning a full investigation" into Justin Turner's postgame actions on Tuesday night. Turner was pulled from the Dodgers' World Series clincher after seven innings once the team was alerted that he had tested positive for COVID-19, but the veteran third baseman decided to take part in portions of the on-field celebration anyway, at one point removing his mask for a team photo. Turner "chose to disregard the agreed-upon joint protocols and the instructions he was given regarding the safety and protection of others," reads the statement. "While a desire to celebrate is understandable, Turner’s decision to leave isolation and enter the field was wrong and put everyone he came in contact with at risk. When MLB Security raised the matter of being on the field with Turner, he emphatically refused to comply ... The Commissioner's Office is beginning a full investigation into this matter and will consult with the Players Association within the parameters of the joint 2020 Operations Manual." It's possible Turner could be facing some sort of fine or suspension. 36 year old that just reached the pinnacle of everything he's worked so hard for. Give the damage had probably already been done - I can't say I blame him and highly doubt he gives 2 shits about facing a fine or suspension.

Enough with this narrative FFS. Cash did the same thing successfully in Game 7 of the NLCS v. the Astros and in Game 2 of the World Series - which was essentially a 'must win' as teams who win the first 2 games go on to win the WS like 88% of the time. Ripping him without acknowledging this is and/or acknowledging that no plan, no stat, no gut feeling, no eye test are 100% accurate is just f***ing stupid. The best team won the series. That should be the narrative.

If they move to a universal DH (which they should/will) - I suspect you'll see Turner finish off his career in LA (not that he needs to DH next year, but at some point, he probably will).

Exactly. People can arm chair and belly ache about how butt hurt they are that baseball is changing and they don't like change - but this is reality. Although it may not seem that way, baseball is a combination of soft factors (gut feelings, eye test) and hard factors (analytics). All teams use a combination of both to make the thousands of decisions during the course of a game.

No offense, but you're not a trained baseball eye. None of us are. TB's formula isn't fool proof. It won't work every time and they won't win every game.....but they've proven their formula is pretty successful. The 2 teams in the World Series use analytics as much as anyone in baseball. Whether people like it or not, the old adage of managers going with a gut feeling and such will be phased out of baseball...mainly because the success of eye tests and gut feelings is not that great. Very few are consistently good at it. The issue is nobody talks about all the times managers go with their gut and it proves to be pure s***. We only hear managers praise themselves by saying they went with their gut when it works out. Side note - Betts is phenomenal. MVP

How many times was he "on" his game in the 100 innings he's faced a lineup for a 3rd time in his career? It may be more than you think.

I get it. Again - not saying it's right or wrong, but if you want SSS, then Snell's ERA the 3rd time through is 6.35. If people want to talk about "going with your best" when the game is on the line. Nick Anderson has essentially been the best reliver in baseball since arriving in TB last year. FIP of about 1.50. 2 WAR in 37 2/3 innings. But I get it, he hasn't been as dominant lately....but your weighing that v. Snell against the lineup a 3rd time where he's historically been poor too. TB makes these types of moves and has really good success more often than not.

Except what Jim said is incorrect Snell's thrown 101 1/3 innings in his career facing the order the 3rd time and they have been pretty s*****. Career ERA of 4.97.

Buck Martinez said it's a bad move...my bad, he must be right. LOL. I'm not saying it's the wrong move or the right move. I'm telling you that it's the way TB plays the game and they've been extremely successful doing it and you have to respect that they probably know significantly more about this move than anyone watching...and finally that you're a f***ing donut if you didn't expect to see them make this move, or if you think Kevin Cash gives a f*** what people think.

Snell's averaged less than 5 innings per start in 2019 and 2020. TB has been protecting him v. the 3rd time through the lineup for awhile now....even when he won the Cy Young he averaged less than 6 inning per start. He isn't DeGrom or Max at all.

As Cash said - this is the way we do things. Pitchers need short memories and thick skin. You guys can say you don't like this style of baseball all you want because you prefer traditional managing and want people to make decisions with their gut - but you have to respect what TB does and the results they get. Competitive for 12 years in row now, all while rolling out a bottom 5 or 6 payroll. I mean Jays24 - you seem confused and upset by this decision like you expected something different? That's on you bruh. Cash isn't going to change his approach in Game 6 of the WS. He doesn't give 2 f***s whether you or anyone in baseball thinks they are crazy. They are in the WS man.

Can we compare it to Game 2 when Cash did the same thing, it worked and they won the game?
