  1. He posted 2.9 WAR last year for $19.5M and is at 1.0 WAR this year already. If you compare him with Moustakas, who just got 4 years at $16M AAV then sure, he's probably making a little more than market value, but I'm not sure how you see that as negative value. Given our payroll situation and massive need at 3rd, I'd have no problem taking him on for the remainder of this season + next year at $18.5M with the hopes of getting 2.5 to 3 WAR out of him. I'd rather take on all his contract and give them less in return than have them eat some of the contract and expect a better return. Then with a team option for 2022 at $15M - he provides some flexibility.
  2. I mean sure. I wonder what the cost is considering he can opt out after 2021. I suspect it would be incredibly high, whereas the price for Seager would be substantially lower (article I read suggested the M's would have to eat cost to move him).
  3. That's actually pretty funny. If only this magic worked on Vlad. Anyone see what Juan Soto is doing right now? Insane #'s. Trout may have to pass the reigns to Soto and Tatis here very soon.
  4. This team really needs a 3rd baseman. I was really happy with the move to add Shaw and see if he could regain his 2017-2018 form - especially with another year of control. But it's looking like he won't. We probably need a starting 3rd baseman for the remainder of this season + 2021 at least until Groshans or Martin are ready. I think we should target Kyle Seager. He's under control for 2021 at $18M and then has a 2022 option. He isn't sexy, but he'll plug a pretty glaring hole.
  5. I'd agree with this. I'd be a lot more interested in moving Kloff in a package for someone with control beyond this year.
  6. wait, what?
  7. holy s*** are they ever.... What happened to Josh Bell, Reynolds, Polanco, Frasier. All of them have completely fell off a cliff. Musgrove and Keller have been f***ing awful too.
  8. Wouldn't it be something if they pushed their own sponsors to stop manufacturing merchandise in sweat shops in China? Wouldn't it be more powerful if the push came from something that would hurt their own pocket books?
  9. This is really the only forum I follow and this is a massive story. I think it's too bad we can't discuss it on here.
  10. Baseball will use today for a token 1 day protest and then return tomorrow, having accomplished nothing. I was just reading that like 6 NFL teams cancelled practice yesterday. So bizarre.
  11. Maybe they finally took the time to read the facts about this incident.
  12. Based on our rotation - he could start pitching every 4th day immediately.
  13. Kelvin Herrera's been released by both Chicago teams this month.
  14. Easy for the Jays and Red Sox to boycott on a night they are expected to be rained out anyway. This is so bizarre.
  15. All NBA games cancelled tonight. Take your time boys - Lowry needs time to let his ankle heel up.
  16. Man - gone are the days when mediocre veterans like Anderson are simply out there to throw 100 pitches. That old school approach was slightly more justifiable when bullpens were full of s***** pitchers - but it's not in today's game, unless the justification is simply that the bullpen is taxed and we can't use it much tonight (which does happen). I'm fairly sure that 'veterans working their way through the 6th inning' is something that s***** broadcasters made up. It's not a thing.
  17. See you next year Nate. Let's hope he doesn't become a band-aid.
  18. The reality is if he leaves Anderson in and he gives up a blooper and then a 3 run HR - most would bitch that he left him in too long. Like it or not, we are in a era where marginal starters (like Anderson) don't face lineups a 3rd time - primarily because the numbers suggest it's a terrible idea. In hindsight, he should have left Anderson in - and I'd fully support if he left Ryu and Roark in a bit too long also, while simply stating to the public that his bullpen is taxed right now and he had to get more innings out of his starters - even if it comes with diminishing results. The Jays need to mix in a few blowouts to help the cause. We are playing a s*** ton of close games right now.
  19. Is it just me, or does it seem like Teo is running at like 80% effort when he's in the OF? I think it was Vasquez that hit one over his head last night that bounced on the warning track....looked like he was jogging after it. He's like the anti-Pillar. Good thing he's crushing the ball still.
  20. 8 games bruh - away games are a thing. Point still made.
  21. Todd Norman JFL19 is a pretty bizarre name.
  22. Hope she's doing better man. Best wishes.
  23. I'll admit Spanky, my hate for Vlad is getting deep. Probably a tad unhealthy.
  24. Could you imagine if he's the next Cito? Team rallies and wins the WS in spite of their s***** manager?
