  1. Jay Bruce ahead of Frazier. Makes sense.
  2. Nah - the other one is for MLB in general - this is BJ only.
  3. WTF? covid is still a thing in the US?
  4. It will be fascinating to see how this plays out. Lindor is such a lovable player - I hope he earns this Contract and becomes a legend in the Mets organization. I wish my man David Wright was still there playing next to him.
  5. I don't anyone hates you on here. We just don't agree with various stances you take.
  6. Damn you, you made me look up Feyereisen. What am I missing?
  7. f*** - c'mon man....baseball needs Ohtani
  8. How on earth do you know the batter aimed the ball? I assume you'll say because you watched the at bat and it was clear he did - but we both know that's just a massive assumption. I have no problem with suggesting batters should adjust their approach in certain situations of the game - especially to make contact and avoid the strikeout. That might mean staying back on the offspeed pitch and shooting the fastball the other way. The whole premise of this discussion was todays game illustrates why missing bats is so valuable because balls put in play inevitably find holes. Sometimes those balls put in play find fielders more often then the stats suggest they should and other times, those balls find holes more than the stats suggest they should. Even if someone does have to "skill" to place the ball - there's still a luck factor involved in that outcome. If the other team can't put the ball in play, you eliminate that variable.
  9. I'm pretty sure the first quote in 'bold' isn't true. Shifts have been pretty mainstream since about 2017. We aren't using a spray chart of Bryce Harper from 2016. If the second quote in 'bold' were true - then teams wouldn't shift that batter anymore. You sound like so many casual fans "this is stupid, just hit the ball over there" or "why doesn't he just bunt it?" or "I could hit in the MLB if they shifted me like that". I'm not 100% sure on the % of batters who face a shift, but I'd guess it's 50%+. There simply can't be that many 'stubborn' hitters. And as noted, your experience v. guys throwing 70 MPH doesn't really apply (source - I've played in a men's competitive league for the past 25 years).
  10. Oh Christ - call Porcello and Greene please.
  11. King Felix opts out of agreement with Baltimore. Roughed up this spring and now out with a sore elbow. The King's reign may be over.
  12. Yeah - I'm good with getting Trent. We'll have to pay him this year, but he's essentially a much younger version of Norm, probably with better defense and less offensive versatility. Sad to see Norm go. It's been amazing watching him develop into a true efficient, offensive weapon. May have to root for the Trail Blazers in the west now.
  13. Man - it certainly looked like Manoah is ready to contribute right now.
  14. Is the game on TV? Manoah is must watch TV.
  15. They do now - Eloy is out 5-6 months.
  16. Got Gary Trent Jr. for Powell. Apparently that's a decent move.
  17. It more he was suggesting why worry about the 7th year for a guys who's a 1st/DH... I get it. There's a good chance Vaughn's a f***ing stud with the bat too though.
  18. I mean if you're asking about Vaughn - you could just not say anything about service time manipulation and simply say he's impressed this spring, but they are evaluating his strengths and weaknesses and will collaborate to make a decision.
  19. I mean...we manipulated service time for our 1st base man/DH didn't we?
  20. Nah - Kenny Williams came out today and said they wouldn't manipulate his service time. If he's ready, he plays. Said something about how Tony has the final call on whether he makes the team or something.
  21. Looks like Andrew Vaughn is going to make the White Sox and serve as their DH.
  22. Exactly. I think it also depends on what you classify as 'passing a physical'. If Tanaka took a physical, it would tell you the ligament in his elbow was slightly torn. Would the team say "well we already knew that" and classify the physical as 'passing'? When they say someone 'failed' a physical, I've always assumed it's that they've concluded some pre-existing condition was simply worse than originally expected and they weren't comfortable with it. It's like a home inspection - there's always something slightly wrong, it's just a matter of how many things are wrong and whether you can live with them or not. I have to imagine most athletes have pre-existing issues. A bad back (Paxton), a bum knee (Pedroia), an ankle that didn't heal the best (J.Polanco), a separated shoulder that pops out more than normal (Bellinger), Arthritis (Flores), etc.
  23. If you want to see another case of this, look up: Paxton, James Kluber, Corey I suspect this happens more than you think.
