  1. I think that's the only reason I'm not keen on Arenado as they really only have room to add 1 new starter. I'd rather a more impactful bat - even if I think we could squeeze another 2-3 WAR season out of him.
  2. I'll rain on your parade. Obviously there's a chance, but I think it's quite slim. To be fair, one of Bo/Tucker and then one of the closer options would truly be a dream offseason. Cease, Bieber, Bo/Tucker + Closer - that's an unreal offseason.
  3. Gimenez's floor is likely 2 WAR if he plays a full season, so it's unfair to suggest his contract is an albatross. Obviously we hope he rebounds and gives us surplus value, but even if he doesn't, he plays a pretty vital role on this team with his defense up the middle.
  4. The beauty thing about the changeup is there are now like 10 different ones you can throw and the nerds can now pinpoint exactly which variation works best based on your arm type and pitch sequencing. Snell was down to just 5% changeup usage in 2022 and now 3 years later, it's his best pitch and is used 24% of the time. Adding that to Ceases arsenal would be idea - along with increase in-zone aggressiveness early in the count.
  5. If this were true - he'd already have been traded IMO. Nobody is taking that contract when they can get similiar production for 1/3 the price.
  6. That's a great breakdown. You provide some awesome insight man - please post more, I love this stuff! re: Dodgers, I was tarred and feathered for suggesting their development hadn't been as strong as of late, with guys like Bobby Miller, May, etc. not panning out as they had hoped. In hindsight, I was wrong. I'm correct that they haven't been as successful over the past 2-4 years and some of their top prospects with big time arms haven't panned out - but that's not because their development is poor or slipping, it's just the volatility in their approach.
  7. Makes sense. Pete is a dinosaur. But a good leader identifies his weakness and brings in people who can fill that void. Be a good leader Pete - keep us on the cutting edge please.
  8. This may be a stupid question - but if don't have an advanced understanding of seam effects and are unable to give pitchers a new pitch - how do we fix that? Can't we just steal people away from Driveline? Is this something we should be able to catch up on quickly? or is it super specialized?
  9. Entering his age 33 season, with an average WAR/year of 1.8 over the last 5 years? Seems highly unlikely.
  10. Not at 3 years $67M for a guy who's a 1.5 WAR pitcher. We'd have to eat a significant amount to get anyone to take him for free, let alone give us something of value in return. There are veterans on the FA market that would cost 1 year $8M-$10M who can provide exactly what Berrios does. We're stuck with him. Hopefully he comes back healthy and maybe a little angry and gives us quality SP5 innings next year.
  11. I'm late to the party, but I completely agree. Rendon was a f*cking beast when the Angels signed him. An incredible all around player with really no flaw at all in his profile. Low K's, high BB's, good power, .300+ hitter for 3 straight years, great defense at 3rd. He was on his way to a HOF career. If you were handing out a mega deal in 2020 - nobody looked like more of a sure thing than Tony Rendon. So sad to see what transpired. It ruined what the Angels had with Ohtani and Trout and it has impacted Trout's legacy. I don't think anyone saw it coming. Unfortunately, it reminds me of what happened to David Wright (one of my all time favs) when he turned 30. A couple of HOF careers cut short due to injury. Sad stuff.
  12. Thanks - I didn't hear much of the aftermath.
  13. Very solid? C'mon man
  14. ValiantJaysFan - let this one go man
  15. Unbelievable! Love it
  16. There's absolutely no way I'd give up this much to get Marte. Marte is a GREAT player, but entering his age 32 season, he may only have 2-3 years of elite performance left. I'd rather resign Bo and keep the Barger and the prospects. I do appreciate that Marte may be worth this much to someone. He has a lot of value based on his contract - but the Jays aren't penny pinching, so I don't think we need to give up that much young talent to add the contractual value...
  17. Was this confirmed to be true? I thought the fan knew this and selected that chirp accordingly.
  18. All good man. I think you're just downplaying the value of information. If the Jays believe they have a shot at Marte at a reasonable price, then that could influence their negotiations with Bo. If Bo's asking for too much, they know they can pivot. You're going to hear that the Jays are kicking the tires with all kinds of players this offseason. Don't read too much into it. I don't think kicking the tires on Marte indicates anything about the possibility of Bo resigning or not. I think we all want a FO that is out there asking questions, gathering information and getting a feel for what options they may have. I fully suspect that's what Atkins is doing with Marte.
  19. I can't imagine it would take much? His ERA was good last year, but nothing else looks particularly good. He's been below replacement level in 3 of the last 5 years. This will be controversial, but I'm not sure he's actually an upgrade over Little or Flu - unless Petey thinks he can unlock something. I guess the Stuff+ isn't bad?
  20. C'mon man. Nobody is bullying anyone. The Jays "checking in" on Marte is simply them doing their job and collecting information. It doesn't mean Bo is gone, nor should they wait until they finish negotiations with Bo to inquire about Marte. I just pointed that out and others reiterated it after ValiantJaysFan doubled down to suggest it's unnecessary (which I still don't get - what is the harm in gathering information on Marte again? Unless you think we're wasting resources or don't have the man power to do such a thing - I don't get it). Nobody was tarred and feathered, nobody was bullied - the board simply provided a pretty logical answer/response to the original question that was asked. ValiantJaysFan - I'm confused as to why you're so upset. I meant no harm with my response - and perhaps I could have phased it better. You're completely welcome here friend.
  21. I fully agree that Jays should continue to look to add to the rotation for the reasons you note, plus the reality that Gaus, Bieber and Lauer are set to become free agents after the 2026 season. But - despite the inherent "risks" with the current rotation, it's really not in terrible shape. That's all I was saying.
  22. huh? Bieber, Yesavage, Lauer, Berrios?
  23. You don't know why they'd check in on him? Isn't that just part of their job and good due diligence to understand what their other options might be as part of any negotiations with Bo?
  24. He's certainly highly regarded by my wife!
  25. FG has Fitts as their #5 and Clarke as their #7 (as of 2025) - both with 50 FV ratings
