  2. Why did Detroit pull Flaherty?
  3. I saw him throw for the Mud Hens about a week before his call up. He was a man amongst boys. I expected he was going to the majors soon. What an arm.
  4. That's a big time throw. Wow
  5. This is insane. An all-time game
  6. I owe Vlad an apology. I've just never been a big fan of him - it's felt like all to often that he's wasting his incredible talents. He drives me nuts. That said, I was always optimistic that would improve with maturity and I was in favor of signing him to the $500M deal. Despite his inconsistencies, he was just too important to the franchise and still had the ability to become a consistent Top 5 bat in MLB. It is so awesome to see him performing in the playoffs this year. I hope this is a sign of things to come.
  7. I'm sure they are sitting slider. That's how good it is. It's like Kahle throwing like 60 straight changeups or Mo's cutter. You know it's coming, but you still can't hit it.
  8. This game has been incredible.
  9. I'm shocked they pulled him.
  10. That just isn't true. There are certain circumstances when it makes sense to ride your starter, but there are also situations when it makes sense to make the change earlier. Great managers don't just pick one approach and always go with it. They read the situation and make the call. Often the probabilities of having more success with one call over the other is 50/50. It's really unfair to judge them harshly based on those decisions. It's often a coin flip (or slight advantage). The best managers often just go on heaters.
  11. Broadcast is right. The other option was to walk Carpenter and let Kirby continue. Risk in that as well though - putting the go ahead run on base. I think bringing in the lefty is he right move. He's been so good and Carpenter is awful v. LHPing. Sometimes even the best (correct?) decision just don't work out. That's baseball.
  12. I agree. I didn't expect it to happen on that match up.
  13. There's a chance that Kerry Carpenter develops into one of the best hitters in the AL over the next 3 years. He's a stud. I think he takes a big step forward next year.
  14. Great play by Suarez
  15. Holy sh*t!!! What a game. That was crushed. A no doubter. Unreal!!!
  16. Good call. We'll see how this plays out. What a start by Baez!
  17. Here we go. What will Seattle do?
  18. Do they have the depth in the pen to pull him this early? It's risky IMO.
  19. I can't believe they are talking about pulling him personally. Both these guys are absolutely shoving. It's incredible to watch. Hope the Tigers can scratch a couple across and take it - but right now, it's just great baseball.
  20. Eugenio Suárez has had a very good, yet underrated career. Not many players have multiple 49 HR seasons. He still strikes out too much, and he's a little more counting stats over advanced metrics, but outside of 2021, he's been a really consistent player. 3.5 to 4 WAR annually.
  21. I like Orion - I hope this doesn't impact him moving forward. He's human.
  22. I'm aware. It just REALLY seems unlikely the Jays would ever pull Lauer because he's reached his pitch count. It's much more likely he is pulled based on matchups and # of times through the order. Even if Lauer was still "stretched out" and could throw 80-90 pitches - there's literally no chance the Jays would let him do that in the playoffs. The only way they would if if we were down 10 runs and they just need him to soak up innings. I still think if that were the case, he could give you 50-60 pitches again - he'd just be down for 4 days.
