  1. I mean tonight would have been perfect for Dominguez in the 9th. Caratini and then 3 righties after that, with only Taylor Trammell (not a good hitter) as a LHB on the bench. But gotta use the closer in a tie game in the 9th.
  2. Fisher would be my choice as well, but Schneider is a minor league manager, and those types absolutely adore veterans. I doubt he's demoting Hoffman's role for a rookie. If Hoffman is taken out of the role it will probably be for Dominguez if anything. I don't know who else Schneider would possibly trust in that spot. Seranthony has "closer experience" and more vetrin presents than everyone else in the pen. That matters (to JS).
  3. Hoffman sucked all the energy out of the stadium. Man what a buzzkill after that 8th inning.
  4. 15 home runs allowed in 62 innings. That's insane.
  5. This might be the only time an opposing fan will ever say this, but thank goodness Jason Alexander is out of the game.
  6. Yeah not much JS can do besides play DS more, which he doesn't seem to want to do. Either for Gimenez or Loperfido. Otherwise this is on the bats. The loss of Bo is definitely felt on the lineup.
  7. Yeah they need to consider less playing time for Gimenez. It’s possible this season is a wash for him due to injury, but he’s hurting them now with the bat.
  8. Heineman doing a post game interview without a shirt on while IKF stands there calmly and talks about his Pittsburgh days like he was held hostage with no food and water was the turning point in the season.
  9. The Astros are only 1 game up on the Mariners and 2.5 on the Rangers. High stakes for both teams. Hopefully Berrios can ugly his way into a quality start. That’s all you can ask for from him at this point.
  10. IKF and Heineman interviewed post game by Hazel as tonight’s heroes while the Jays maintain the best record in the AL with 18 games to go. Imagine telling someone that in March.
  11. John Schneider when DS is up with no one on the bench available to pinch hit.
  12. There is no analytic on the planet that would suggest pinch hitting IKF against a lefty. That was John Schneider's brain dead gut feeling. Minor league mangers tend to bend over for big league vets, no matter how s***** they are, and adding France and IKF was always going to cause more harm than good because of that.
  13. IKF has a 38 wRC+ against LHP this season, and 71 last season. Using France and IKF instead of DS against a LHP is mind boggling. Neither France or IKF hit them well at all. Schneider has this season. I guess we know who is going down when Santander comes back, assuming Bichette is back as well. Not sure what Davis Schneider has done to this organization. Every time he hits well they find any excuse not to play him dating back to 2023.
  14. The Jays have been pretty reluctant to put players on the IL even when they are unavailable to play for a few days (ex. Vlad after doing the splits), so for Bo to actually hit the IL it's probably fairly serious. Hopefully not something that will prevent a return before the end of the regular season.
  15. Of course Tony has a setback. Man, not much good news coming out today.
  16. IKF is starting at least half of the games Bo is missing. Most likely more. I agree though tonight's lineup is good given the circumstances. Hopefully it stays that way and IKF is just a late inning defensive replacement, but love is a powerful emotion, and the Jays LOVE IKF.
  17. How many big spending teams need shortstops? How many big spending teams are willing to spend big on a 2B (assuming that's where teams envision his long-term position)? I'm not saying it won't happen, the Dodgers need a SS for example, but I could easily see a scenario where he overvalues himself and doesn't see the offers he wants, especially with the looming lockout possibly impacting league spending. Of course, all it takes is one team.
  18. My fear is that next season's SS/2B (wherever Gimenez doesn't play) tandem is going to be Clement and a re-signed IKF, which is nightmare fuel. However, I don't think that justifies overpaying for a flawed, and likely bad long-term investment in Bichette. My hunch is that Bo is not going to get the market/interest that he expects, and he comes back to the Jays on a lesser deal where maybe he can opt out after a year. The Jays just voluntarily played IKF in 2 of the 3 games at Yankee Stadium. They obviously value defense over offense even if the defense is attached to one of the worst hitters in the sport. I don't think Bo gets the 8/200 or whatever type of deal from this front office unless Rogers steps in like they presumably did with Vlad. As far as 2026, I think there is a path to contention, but I could easily see it going the opposite way as well. Really depends on what the FO does, and way too early to speculate on that.
  19. Based on how JS operates, they will pinch hit Varsho for Straw in the 9th. Whether Gimenez pinch hits for IKF is a mystery.
  20. IKF has a 37 wRC+ against LHP this season, and 71 last season, so he’s the perfect guy to have in the lineup today against Fried in the biggest game of the season, while sitting one of the best players on the team. One day after sitting Kirk. I’m surprised Vlad didn’t get a rest day this series.
  21. Resting Kirk, starting IKF, not pinch hitting in multiple spots late in the game (including the 9th). Either some guys are hurt or the Jays aren’t taking this game seriously. Either scenario is disappointing.
  22. This org demoted Fisher but are giving Varland unlimited high leverage opportunities.
