If you told me before the off season began that we'd sign Roark to a two year deal, I probably would have said "that sounds about right". Hopefully can provide 150+ innings of league average production.

After Hernandez came back from AAA (June onwards), he had a 1.8 WAR, 126 wRC+, 10 BB%, 34.4 K%, and 92.1 avg EV (mph) in 323 plate appearances. That was after he became starting CF. The Jays definitely need a long term answer in CF, but short term they might just roll with Teocar and hope his bat compensates for his D rather than spend money on stop gaps.

Trollosi is just putting "#BlueJays" because he knows it will generate traffic given the quantity of the fanbase on social media. It means nothing. Just ignore him.

No one wants to work for James Dolan. I think Masai could leave, but if he does, it will probably be for something related to the Giants of Africa, and not another NBA gig. He's already accomplished what he sought out to do in Toronto. Wouldn't surprise me if he will look for another challenge soon.

This is great for baseball. MLB needs the Yankees to be the Evil Empire. It’s not great for the Jays, at least short term, but 8 more years of Stanton and now 9 years of Cole. It will be interesting to see how they perform as they get older. The Yankees likely already regret the Stanton trade two years in. So I guess now Happ is going to get moved. More pressing for the Jays is what happens with Ryu. My guess is he goes to either the Dodgers or Angels but we will see. -
The Jays need to keep DH open for Vlad, who they will probably load manage throughout the season depending on what shape he is in. I wouldn't mind Edwin if the team was a middle of the order bat away from contention, but right now, nah. Tsutsugo would make sense if they think he has upside since he fits the team's timeline, but a 37 year old DH is the last thing the Jays need.

If the Jays get a good secondary piece as incentive to take Happ, then that’s fine, but it would have to be something good. Yankees trying to get as far under the tax as possible to get Cole (the lux tax is important to them) and if the Jays are helping them out then we should get some incentive for it. Happ was worse than Thornton last season so I’m not sure he’s much of an upgrade. The secondary piece would be the key to the deal.

Maybe the Jays have their sights set on next year's FA market? I mean it is not as strong as this year's, but Odorizzi will be there without a QO, as will other mid rotation types that likely won't cost $100m to sign. Plus it will be the last off season before the CBA expires, so the market might be different. The Jays are not at a point in their win curve where grossly overpaying for someone is going to make much of a difference, so they might be more in the feeler stage to see who might fall into their laps.

I normally don't care about divisional trades, but if the Jays are helping the Yankees get Cole by taking Happ, then we better be getting a damn good prospect/player as incentive. Happ was not good at all last year, is 37, and has a vesting option for 2021 if he starts 27 games.

Yeah there are too many buyers higher on the win curve than the Jays this winter. I think Lindblom and Roark might be the best FA the Jays can realistically get, otherwise it will be in the lower tier.

Yeah my guess is it would be a 4-5 year deal, not a 2 year deal, especially if they do not retain his arb rights after the contract ends which would make a short term deal pointless. -
I think the Angels would go above 7 years. The question is will the Yankees match that.

Atkins regime has been good at two things, drafting and international signings. If this happens, I won’t have a lot of expectations, but will give it the benefit of doubt. -
With that said, never doubt the Rays. Renfroe will probably have a higher WAR than Pham in 2020 just by wearing a Rays uniform when he plays baseball, and Edwards is already holding his own in A+ at age 20 with a great BB/K rate at every level plus speed (no power at all though).
