  1. Max is definitiely giving up 2-3 home runs tonight depending on how long he's in the game, so solo is the best case.
  2. In order to fully absorb the powers of the 2015 Royals, Schneider has to embrace Ned Yost's mindset. That quote would make Ned shed a tear, so maybe this is so stupid that it works. (yes I'm trying to cope).
  3. Historically, 3B has been IKF's best position from the defensive metrics, and Clement is good anywhere, so not sure why they went with this alignment (they did it in the Yankees series too). Regardless, let's hope IKF has a big game tonight. Or, more realistically, let's hope the Jays have a big game to compensate for IKF's existence.
  4. Scherzer has the worst GB rate of his career, and the highest FB rate of his career. So he needs OF defense, not infield. Nathan Lukes is in LF tonight, but is a -2 OAA in LF this season and +4 in RF. Barger is in RF tonight, and he has a -4 OAA in RF. IKF is a -1 OAA at 2B and +2 at 3B this season. So he's obviously at 2B tonight. IKF has hit Castillo well in his career (13 whole AB), so that's enough for JS apparently. Let's hope he doesn't buckle under the pressure defensively and bobble the first ball hit in his sight like last time he started a playoff game (and the team lost).
  5. Term needs to explain why IKF is starting tonight. There has to be a positive slant to that decision. Just for my own sanity.
  6. A player has to spend the entire season with the same team in his FA year in order to qualify for a QO. If Bieber becomes a FA this winter then the Jays can't offer it to him.
  7. No chance I'm starting Heineman over Kirk because of a small sample of catcher's ERA. If Max stinks tonight then it won't be because of who the catcher is. Go with your best lineup every game. They'll have all winter to rest up.
  8. Bieber was traded mid season, so he's not eligible to receive the QO.
  9. My guess is Schneider wants Max, Bassitt, and Lauer to get through 6, then he can mix and match Little, Varland, Dominguez, and Hoffman for the final 3. As mentioned, this game could go so many different ways and none of the scenarios would be surprising. Definition of a toss up game.
  10. Great game, and much needed production from the offense. Just an absolute massive start for Max tomorrow. I’m not super confident in him but maybe he has one last round of vetrin presents to dish out.
  11. My guess is Flu already warmed up earlier and may have been hot so might as well use him. They don’t have a clear mop up guy other than Yariel, who really should have pitched 2 innings, but JS had to compensate for letting a starter go 6, so using 3 relievers will improve his sleep tonight.
  12. Definitely agree with using Yariel for the 9th. He’s been bad for a while so this is the perfect time to use him. I don’t expect him to go back out there though.
  13. Time to bring IKF, DS, and Heineman into the game. Take out Vladdy, Kirk, and Varsho.
  14. I would think Bassitt would be the long man in that case.
  15. If the next 3 innings are Lauer and Yariel, then no issues with pulling Bieber here. I doubt it will be though.
  16. My guess is Bieber is done. If they pan to JS in the dugout, his hands are probably trembling from not making a pitching change for 6 innings. Dude won't be able to control himself.
  17. With this lead I think we can safely assume JS will allow Shane to at least pitch 6 now. I'm sure a base runner or two, and JS will run to the mound like Usain Bolt, but seems pretty safe now.
  18. Max is going tomorrow. They need all their relievers fresh. If Bieber can go 6-7 here, then you have to do it, especially if he continues to look this good.
  19. I'm watching the FOX feed. Who is JS warming up? Unreal that he's already prepared to go to the pen when Bieber has been dealing since the 1st ended.
  20. Bieber has settled down. Usual caveat aside (JS), would love to see him pitch 6 strong at least. But Jays need to keep adding on here, especially if Kirby is still in the game.
  21. Nicely done Gimenez and Varsho. Hold this f'n lead now Bieber.
