If this score holds then I think we see Hoffman in the 9th, but curious what JS does for the 8th. I saw Fluharty and Dominguez warming up in the 7th, and no sign of Varland (at least on the FOX broadcast).

That was clearly Trey's last batter, glad he got the DP to get through 7. What a performance.

I really hope the Jays are super high on Leo Jimenez or something so that they don't get the crazy idea to bring IKF back next year.

89 pitches through 6. My guess is JS makes a change, but he's carving up the Dodgers right now.

Man what a start by Yesavage. I'm sure Varland is getting warmed up (or will soon) but let Yesavage go until he starts to tire/get hit hard.

Nice. I know Barger isn't great against LHP, but he's a preferable option either way if the alternative is Straw.

Shane Bieber's post season run came to an end last night (barring a Game 7 and possible relief appearance there). Final line: 2-0, 4 GS, 17.2 IP, 3.57 ERA (3.59 FIP), 6 BB, 18 K, 2 HR His 2 post season wins...... Game 3 of ALCS (Jays down 0-2 in the series): 6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 8 K, 1 HR Game 4 of the World Series (Jays down 1-2 in the series): 5.1 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 0 HR Whatever happens with him in free agency, and whatever happens the rest of this series as a whole, that trade paid off big time.

I remember I was watching Game 4 of the 2019 series between the Raptors/Sixers at a bar, and we saw a random guy wearing a Jays hat. My friend goes to him, points to me, and says "he's a Blue Jays fan too". That dude had no idea who the Blue Jays were. Just said the hat matched his clothes. Don't read too much into fashion from casuals or non fans. While I'm sure there's a small chance that this site is saved on Meghan's bookmarks, I think her being an actual fan is not very likely.

Yeah I think that is what it comes down to. The Jays love contact, moving the runner over, etc. DS is the opposite of that. I'm not a DS fan by any means. He didn't end the season all that well and his overall numbers are propped up by 2 HR's against position player. I just think the bar on playing over IKF should be pretty low, but the Jays clearly have a specific idea in mind with DS's usage, and they probably aren't even wrong. It's just that IKF is so bad it makes it more questionable to go with that alignment. If the Jays keep winning with IKF out there, then it is what it is.

Yeah I don’t think Straw or IKF should start tonight (or ever) but JS has managed this way all season and I doubt he will change now. If Springer doesn’t play then I suspect DS, Straw, and IKF are all in there. If Springer does play then it’s probably choosing between Straw and IKF as JS has consistently used DS against LHP so I don’t think that changes. If Springer is out then my guess on the lineup: LF Schneider 1B Vladdy DH Bo CA Kirk CF Varsho 3B Clement 2B IKF SS Gimenez RF Straw Lukes and Barger will pinch hit as soon as Snell is gone. Same formula as last time.

Work the count and get to their pen as early as possible so that Barger and Lukes can get back into the game earlier. That was the difference in Game 1 with the Barger grand slam. If Snell goes deep into the game then that’s not a good thing for the Jays, Make him work.

JS would have gotten Varland to warm up again as soon as whoever he brought in to the 9th fell behind in the count to the 1st batter. He's probably hot already since he warmed up multiple times. Just bring him in and let JS get his fix for the night. It's his 13th appearance in 25 days, and tomorrow will almost certainly be 14 in 26, but the Jays think his arm can handle it.
