  1. Hopefully Tapia is a few weeks away from being Joe Panik'd for a useful reliever.
  2. This line is more like it from Kikuchi. Hopefully April's command issues are behind him.
  3. Scoring runs seem so damn difficult lately. Kirk had to run faster than he's ever run before just to get it too.
  4. Yeah on the rare occasion Tapia gets on base, he should be on the move, especially if you bat him 5th and the bottom of the order is coming up. It's one of the few skills he has (nearly 80% for his career).
  5. This ump is definitely going to frustrate the hitters tonight.
  6. If Springer hits a hard single here I'm not convinced Kirk can score from 3rd. Dude is slow as molasses.
  7. Tapia making me look forward to Dexter Fowler.
  8. Well, that called strike 3 was in the zone, but Vlad definitely got screwed on the 1st strike, and in his other AB's. Glad Charlie took the bullet on that one. Seems like he's been ejected more this season than every other year combined. Growing a backbone. Good to see.
  9. Have to give credit to the Astros. Lose a player like Correa and can just add Peña in there without missing a beat.
  10. Richards threw 5 pitches so Buntoyo better have him pitch the next inning.
  11. I'm not a Thornton fan, but not sure why he's not being used as a long man in this situation. He should have pitched 2-3 innings tonight. If he gave up runs, then he gave up runs, but have to be economical with relievers when starter doesn't give you length.
  12. Is Dante back with the team yet? If not, bring his ass back.
  13. This is where the Jays should use Pearson when he's healthy, similar to how the Yankees have been using King. Just have him come in as a multi inning reliever. Thornton is not good so the fact that he can eat up innings out of the pen isn't necessarily helpful.
  14. Yeah he has a K% bordering 40% and a BABIP over .380. He's going to regress pretty hard, but if he's a catcher, then it's not a big deal. If he's the DH and batting 4th, then that's a bigger issue. Need Teoscar and Jansen back ASAP.
  15. Kikuchi has upside, you can clearly see the stuff is there, but if Walker can't fix him, then it's going to be a long ass three years watching him pitch like this every 5th day.
  16. I don't know if Pete Walker can fix Kikuchi or not in the next 3 years, but watching him pitch is infuriating.
  17. Wow. I can't see Bauer coming back from this. Soonest he can come back is May (?) 2024 and by then he'll be 33 with nearly 3 years of missed time. Combine that with the PR stench that would come with signing him, and I don't think any team looks at him as being worth the trouble.

They won 2 games, and should have won 3 games, against a better team in a year they should have been rebuilding. It was definitely a great season overall.
  19. Gausman is a vetrin and was dealing, and he wasn't allowed to go past 88 pitches. I think Manoah is done. Gotta get Garcia in there.
  20. Tapia batting cleanup is either massive incompetence or an epic troll job by Buntoyo. I know "he's just a puppet" is starting to gain some traction here, but there's no chance any analytics team, Blue Jays or otherwise, would recommend this lineup construction. Even if they feel Tapia has some untapped potential (his statcast numbers have trended forward this season so far to his credit), at least wait until it translates to on field success.
  21. They didn't protect him pre lockout and were ready to lose him if a Rule 5 draft happened, so it's definitely possible he is traded mid season. If they feel he's not capable of carrying this performance over, then it would make sense to sell high, but the numbers/age/skill set look enticing.
  22. Samad Taylor: 20.8 BB%, 19.4K%, 159 wRC+, .218 ISO, 11 SB (1 CS) Speed + pop + walks + dramatically reduced K's. It's only 72 PA, but he's looking very interesting now, especially given his defensive versatility. Time to follow in Teoscar and Espinal's footsteps as random trade deadline pickups who pan out.
  23. A balanced schedule is the AL Central's worst nightmare.
  24. How many more starts until starters can reach 100 on this team? Gausman was literally dominating them and is taken out at 88 pitches. I know Buntoyo would move mountains if it meant being able to use as many relievers as possible, but 2nd time in a row Gausman has dominated and been taken out before 90 pitches.
  25. I like bunting Espinal over to 2B to give Zimmer (career 62 wRC+ vs LHP) a chance to drive him in.
