  1. Saw that pitcher's strike out numbers in the minors and knew how this AB would end.
  2. Damn hopefully Teoscar is not injured on that play.
  3. Richards facing the s*** part of the lineup too.
  4. This is a legitimate concern. The bench right now, assuming Espinal is starting at 2B, is two OF's who can't hit, a backup catcher who can't catch or hit, and then Biggio who is versatile but only really playable at 2B. Bench depth is fairly easy to get at the deadline, so I'm not really stressing that, but Charlie with Tapia, Collins, and Zimmer at his disposal is terrifying.
  5. Yeah they could have put Hernandez or Gurriel at DH and used Biggio in the OF. Or had Jansen catch and Kirk DH. Not putting out your best lineup when everyone is healthy against a division rival is ridiculous.
  6. Zack Collins is the DH tonight. Honestly, if the Jays only had Conforto available for road games, the team would probably still be better off. Tapia, Collins, and Zimmer are going to get way too many AB's even when everyone is healthy.
  7. I’m already sick of Tapia, and he’s probably getting over 400 PA’s this year.
  8. The bench makes no sense right now. Two OF's who can't hit (in different ways) and a 3rd catcher who can't hit or catch. The only logical bench player right now is Espinal, and he might be the starting 2B soon. They need to clean that up.
  9. If Tapia swung away the ball would have probably gone where the bunt did. Buntoyo can get his bunting fix with Tapia.
  10. Espinal is probably going to be starting 2B by the end of the month.
  11. Would have preferred Biggio in LF and Espinal at 2B (I'm cautiously believing in roided up Santiago), but whatever it's the 2nd game of the season. Hopefully Gausman can go at least 5.
  12. The energy by the players and the fans is amazing.
  13. We will probably find out that Berrios was tipping his pitches or something. They have been all over him
  14. Yeah I don’t think Berrios is making it out of the 1st unless he gets a quick DP.
  15. I like this move as well. The Jays needed a LHB with speed and defense as the 4th OF, and Zimmer is basically that. His bat isn't great but if he can be serviceable against RHP then he will have value. I wonder if this move eventually leads to Tapia being moved (either today or soon). You really don't need both him and Zimmer on the bench, and neither of them have options remaining. Plus my guess is the trade with the Rockies was more about moving Grichuk and getting the prospect back than it was about Tapia, so now that they have a better LH bench player, they can probably move on from him.
  16. I want to see how CLE does in 2023-beyond with a balanced schedule. The reason they can get marginal returns in trades and still be competitive is largely because they can beat up on the AL Central.
  17. He took less money and worked in a NTC. Dude is happy being underpaid in Cleveland.
  18. Ramirez must really like playing in Cleveland.
  19. Been getting the app for free for years due to T-Mobile. Not a bad deal.
  20. Bird had limited value as a bench player, and there is no doubt in my mind that he was going to steal PA's from Kirk against RHP regardless of performance, so I'm fine with this. If Bird pans out elsewhere, then so be it. He is a huge long shot and the Jays have contention in mind. Better to give as many PA's to Kirk as possible.
  21. Bird is definitely going to steal AB’s from Kirk against RHP, and definitely pinch hit for him late in games. I still think Tapia pinch hitting for Kirk will happen more than once.
  22. He was a lame duck heading into this season, so expected this to happen. The good news is it's only through 2023, and the club options make it easy to move on from him. We just have to hope the team is talented enough to compensate for him.
