  1. This should be the lineup everyday /as many games as possible, but you know it will look different next game.
  2. I think you can rationalize trading the farm for Soto even without the extension as you'd be getting 3 chances to win a WS with him (assuming he's traded this trade deadline). With that said, I don't think the Nats are going to move him this season. Maybe next trade deadline when he will have only 1.5 years of control left, but I guess it depends on whether the Nats want to outright tank.
  3. I know there is some benefit to having an "open" DH spot, but I've never wanted a fat immobile DH on the roster more than I do now knowing that the DH spot is just going to be used to get Tapia into the lineup.
  4. I'm shocked Romano got hurt pitching 5 days a week of high leverage relief after a shortened spring training. Never saw it coming.
  5. Agreed about Taylor, but I think it’s Tapia that needs the DFA. Zimmer at least is a great defensive CF with speed. That is useful as a 5th OF. Tapia literally has no redeeming quality as a player, but as long as he’s on the roster he’s going to get 600 PA because Charlie, so that’s the move to make. If the front office is not high on Taylor then replace him with Warmoth. Or hell anyone at this point.
  6. Tapia had a -0.5 WAR heading into today and has a 39 wRC+ in 101 plate appearances after his 2 PA's today so far. I really want to see how far he can go until the team does something.
  7. Did Manfred deaden the balls so that teams would stop promoting the three true outcomes and start changing their approach to hitting to a more viewer friendly approach? I'm not sure what the end game is here.
  8. Rotating the DH spot is actually a bad thing now because it just means more Tapia into the lineup. DH Springer? Tapia in the OF. DH Vlad? Gurriel to 1B and Tapia to the OF. There's no way around it. The bench is awful. Atkins needs to do some work at the deadline. Josh Bell at DH, Tyler Naquin as 4th OF, another high impact reliever (if not Pearson). I'm just picking names off bad teams, but the trade deadline probably needs to be pretty significant at this point.
  9. Agreed. The Jays being over .500 this season so far has definitely seemed like a miracle most nights. That doesn't erase the fact that Stanton's HR was cheap as s***, but it's Yankee Stadium. Just have to hope some of the Jays hitters can hit some over there too.
  10. Two straight games and 2 straight logical lineups. Charlie learning, possibly.
  11. No chance anyone other than Charlie is behind Tapia's spot in the batting order. There is no analytic team, in baseball or otherwise, that would think Rocket should be leading off. Or batting anywhere between 2-8 for that matter. Even 9th is pushing it. Basically he doesn't belong anywhere in the lineup other than pinch running, but let's see how long it takes for the batted ball profile to show up in the results. I'm not holding my breath.
  12. If Clase has a clean inning, then Tapia will end the game with more PA's than Vlad. Analytics, baby.
  13. At least Romano gets a day off.
  14. Yeah I noticed the increased statcast numbers, but Charlie isn't even waiting until it manifests into results before he starts batting him 1st, or 5th, or 6th. Panik was awful, but Buntoyo being a minor league manager showing respect to a vetrin who used to be good at least had some (annoying) logic to it. But Tapia has sucked for years, and this year he has still sucked while having better underlying numbers. His road slash line with the Rockies was .243/.285/.320 (61 wRC+). I just don't get why he's been given so much reverence by Charlie.
  15. Charlie’s love for Joe Panik wasn’t as obnoxious as his love for Tapia is now. At least Panik was a good player at one point.
  16. Jomboy breakdown of the Boone ejection last night.
  17. Hopefully Tapia is a few weeks away from being Joe Panik'd for a useful reliever.
  18. This line is more like it from Kikuchi. Hopefully April's command issues are behind him.
  19. Scoring runs seem so damn difficult lately. Kirk had to run faster than he's ever run before just to get it too.
  20. Yeah on the rare occasion Tapia gets on base, he should be on the move, especially if you bat him 5th and the bottom of the order is coming up. It's one of the few skills he has (nearly 80% for his career).
  21. This ump is definitely going to frustrate the hitters tonight.
  22. If Springer hits a hard single here I'm not convinced Kirk can score from 3rd. Dude is slow as molasses.
  23. Tapia making me look forward to Dexter Fowler.
  24. Well, that called strike 3 was in the zone, but Vlad definitely got screwed on the 1st strike, and in his other AB's. Glad Charlie took the bullet on that one. Seems like he's been ejected more this season than every other year combined. Growing a backbone. Good to see.
  25. Have to give credit to the Astros. Lose a player like Correa and can just add Peña in there without missing a beat.
