  1. Man, the hitting is bad enough, but also having to deal with Schneider unnecessarily taking pitchers out so he can use as many relievers as possible is too much for me. Hopefully when I look at the final score in a few hours I'll be pleasantly surprised.
  2. Might be time to try something different. Call up Schneider, platoon Barger and DeJong at short until Bo gets back, something. Even if it fails it would be less excruciating than watching the stuff we are seeing now.
  3. Can the Orioles bring Fujinami in again? They did last night, so why not one more time?
  4. If Varsho is even a 90-100 wRC+ player he's going to be really valuable, especially at CF next season. Great defensively.
  5. I don't think there's anything DeJong could do to justify picking up the option, which is fine as he's only a placeholder for Bichette for as long as he's out (hopefully not long).
  6. Not sure why the O’s manager thought Fujinami was the right guy to use in that spot, but thanks.
  7. I vaguely remember Matt Stairs blaming Gary Denbo for the team’s offensive struggles in 2008 and then praising the shift when Cito came in. Maybe I’m misremembering. Not saying we need Cito back but I think hitting coaches can make a difference. Whether that’s the reason for the 2023 team’s struggles is impossible to know from our end.
  8. Bichette: 3.4 WAR Vlad, Varsho, Springer, Kirk combined: 3.4 WAR I tend to agree that there is something that needs to be fixed, more so than just waiting for the numbers to normalize. It's getting a little late for the latter.
  9. 7 days coming into tonight. I get wanting to get him some work but bringing in a high leverage RP who could be the closer for the next few weeks into a blowout loss when he’s probably going to be needed a lot over the next week or two (no off days) is just not sensible.
  10. Schneider is horrendous with bullpen usage. It’s mind boggling. I wouldn’t try to find logic here.
  11. Agreed. The O’s didn’t have to trade anyone to accommodate prospects and they do a great job spreading the playing time around. We are seeing the same boring s*** night after night with the same guys. At the minimum, Schneider (the prospect, not fat boy in the dugout) needs to be called up.
  12. Using Hicks tonight so that when they need him tomorrow and Thursday, his arm will be fully accustomed to John Schneider’s workload.
  13. Man did Schneider really intentionally walk Hays to get to Henderson? I don’t know what the splits say, maybe the stats say it makes sense, but that looks kinda foolish.
  14. 4D chess by the Jays to start Ryu against the Orioles rather than the Angels who are worse and have a bunch of LHB in their lineup.
  15. If Schneider gets called up and plays a fair amount then I’m cool with this. Disappointed but at least we’d get to see a prospect who might be decent. If it’s status quo, then ********.
  16. Damn I thought I knew the Jays farm system, but that name is new to me.
  17. Bassitt had a horrendous first start of the season, but since then he has a 3.48 ERA (4.20 FIP) in 129 innings. You could argue that they overpaid for what he is, but he's mostly been fine this season.
  18. Yeah if Barger is even a below average SS option defensively (but not terrible) then he’d be my choice, but I doubt that’s even a consideration if Bo has to miss significant time. It will almost certainly be a vetrin.
  19. I could see them trading Teoscar but just not sure why they’d trade him to the Jays when that’s the team they have have the best shot of catching for a playoff spot but Jerry loves making trades.
  20. Yeah the Jays seem to have no interest in using prospects to fill big league holes or get them PA’s during this competitive window. Last position player prospect that they called up and used a lot was probably Kirk in 2020. Granted they haven’t developed one that was worth playing since then aside from Moreno who was blocked by 2 catchers, but I don’t see the Jays being that type of org anyway. The Orioles don’t even have injuries aside from Mullins, but they call up prospects and cycle playing time between them and existing players. The Jays doing something like that with Schneider, Barger, etc, seems pretty unlikely.
  21. The Mariners are 3 games back of the Jays for the WC. Not sure why they’d trade Teoscar to a team they are trying to catch. He’s not having a good season but still fills a need for the Jays and he could easily get hot for 2 months.
  22. Umpiring sucked but the Jays offense is still ass, and it will only look worse if Bo is out. They need to add hitting.
  23. Stuff like that hurts the game. They fixed the pace and the time of games, fix the damn umpiring.
  24. It's a team option with a $1m buyout. So if the Jays got him, worst case he stinks, and you pay him $1m to go away. If he rebounds then maybe you consider picking up the option and putting him at 2B in 2024. But all of this is premature as we don't know what is up with Bichette yet.
