  1. Gibby was definitely fired. All you have to do is look at how Buntoyo and Schneider manage to see the type Atkins wanted. Gibby was not that guy.
  2. Can the Jays add some power at the deadline? Always needing 2-3 hits to score a run is annoying. At least it feels that way.
  3. I'd rather the Jays play at the Trop than play any games against the Mariners.
  4. It seems like it's headed this way anyway, but Jansen needs to be the starting catcher with Kirk playing a lot less. As mentioned he's been well below average offensively since July of last season, and he's somehow morphed into a singles hitter which is not good for the fattest/slowest player in the league. As a backup CA making the minimum, he's fine, so it's not hurting to have him on the roster, but if July 2022-onwards is his new norm, then he's not a starting caliber player in MLB even with his good defense. Have him backup Jansen for now and if the bat starts to come around again, then adjust playing time accordingly.
  5. Schneider likely has an order to not use Kikuchi the 3rd time through the order. That's what their analytics tell them and the Jays consistently follow that rather than what's happening on the field. Sometimes they will be right, but times like yesterday they had to use more common sense, and they didn't do it.
  6. Garcia has an easily attainable vesting option for 2024 at $6m. It’s based on appearances so you know damn well he will reach it. I’m hoping he’s involved in a deadline deal but probably not.
  7. Manoah will have 78 pitches thrown by the 3rd inning on Sunday and Schneider will have no one warming up. This org is at the mercy of their own analytics.
  8. If Tiedemann is healthy and pitching 4-5 innings within a few weeks, then call his ass up.
  9. Kirk hitting for power. Finally. Need him to have a big 2 months.
  10. 7 walks and 5 singles. Guillermo can’t wipe that smile off his face.
  11. Not watching the game but see that Kirk went 1st to 3rd on a single. Was Luplow’s hit the slowest single in the history of the sport?
  12. Vlad in 2025 is going to have a MVP caliber year. That's the only thing I'll bank on with him.
  13. Tiedemann getting hurt was a huge blow because there’s no doubt he’d be starting right now if he were available, and maybe they’d have been more sensible in their approach with Manoah. I still find it crazy that they know he’s gonna get lit up and still start him hoping divine intervention gets him through each start.
  14. The Jays seem to be moving away from how they managed under Buntoyo and more towards playing the starters as often as they can, which is the right call, but makes it harder to develop bench players. Schneider could be trade bait or he could be someone they value, but if they chose Luplow it is likely because they don’t envision him playing that often. I think the next prospect we see getting everyday AB’s in the Majors is probably Orelvis.
  15. The Jays willing to lose games during a playoff push is mind boggling to me. Sending him down and trying to get him right for 2024-beyond seems like a much smarter way to go than hoping a 6.00 ERA starter whose stuff/command looks like dog s*** is going to win games against competent offenses.
  16. I wonder if the Jays would have the balls to have Varsho as the 4th OF for the rest of the season, assuming they picked up a LF in a trade. This was the big move of the off season so it would be admitting defeat in some cases, but it would only be temporary as he's certainly the starting CF next season and beyond. He's just not helping the 2023 team, and that's kinda important.
  17. The Jays would rather take a bullet to the chest than start Bowden Francis, and there’s no one else in the minors that they’d spot start in all likelihood. They’d rather lose games with Manoah than try to win with someone else, and I’m not sure why. It’s not like the stuff is there but the results aren’t. He looks like s*** and the numbers back it up. If they miss the playoffs by a game (again) then they can just blame themselves at that point. Manoah is definitely starting Sunday. They are waiting for another Astros type start where he gets destroyed before they even think about a move.
  18. The 2023 Reds might be the 2022 Orioles. Position player core looking good with more on the way (Marte). Both them and the Pirates could take a leap next season.
  19. This game has given us a good glimpse of the team's needs. Manoah shouldn't start another game the rest of the season, so another SP is probably a good idea (Stroman or otherwise). The team needed to go to the bench to get a RHB to face a lefty reliever, and the big bat they had was Santiago f'n Espinal. A RHB that can mash lefties is badly required.
  20. The Jays missed the playoffs by a game in 2021 and still don't realize that punting games mid season (essentially what they are doing with Manoah starting) could come back to bite them later. I have no doubt he starts again Sunday.
  21. I like how Schneider will pull a dominating starter after 7 IP and 80 pitches but will let Manoah make this a blowout before he takes him out. He better not face the lineup a 3rd time.
  22. The Jays can’t possibly count on Manoah down the stretch. Command still stinks even though he should have K’d Soto before the HR.
  23. Manoah sucking the life out of a big crowd has become a very common occurrence.
  24. Ump f***ed Manoah there. Had to know Soto was going to take advantage.
