  1. If KK hits the ball in the air, it better be to the warning track for Kirk to score.
  2. Merrifield since Aug 1 has a 64 wRC+ (not counting tonight). The Jays really need Bo, Belt, and Jansen back.
  3. If Kirk was the runner on 3rd, they would have sent him.
  4. Mariners lost and Rangers about to lose. The Jays better win tonight.
  5. Trea Turner had sex on the day he signed his contract.
  6. Yeah, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind trading him for the right deal, but this is selling massively low. Can’t see them doing that. Certainly not after this season. After next season if he’s coming off another bad year then maybe, but even then the return would be so minimal that it wouldn’t be worth it vs keeping him and hoping he has a big contract year.
  7. The Jays barely beating the worst teams in baseball, and frustrating the hell out of all of us, but will sit half a game out of a playoff spot after today.
  8. If Atkins is still GM, then I doubt it. He already fired his first manager choice. He had a chance to actually have a legit manager search after last season, but couldn't wait to sign JS to an extension after blowing the Mariners series.
  9. Did Schneider really take Berrios out at 84 pitches so he could use Garcia and Jackson in a close game? A season where the Jays are 10+ games over .500 shouldn't be this infuriating to sit through.
  10. I think people can have rose colored glasses when it comes to Gibby, especially the 2015 version, but holy s*** he runs circles around the guys Atkins has hired. Montoyo and Schneider making the same mistakes over and over again is just unwatchable, and you can't put all the blame on them because they are likely just doing what the org wants. Spending $85m on the rotation and not letting them throw more than 85 pitches a start when things are going well is absurd.
  11. Berrios might need extra rest after today, 84 pitches has to be a season high for him. f*** JS.
  12. Aside from the fact that he was blocked by Vlad/Belt this season, Horowitz on July 1 was hitting .297/.419/.390 in AAA. For a 1B/DH, that wasn't good enough to call up on a team trying to contend. In July/Aug, he hit .394/.498/.644, so the power for whatever reason started to develop and he became a more interesting prospect. Now was probably the right time to call him up. I could definitely see Schneider and Horowitz replacing Merrifield and Belt next season. Maybe Orelvis has a chance at 3B too, but that's a lot of rookies for a team that will likely be very desperate to make the playoffs, so they might prefer the stopgap route.
  13. Good news is the Jays are behind both teams by 1.5 games now, and one of the teams is going to lose every night over the next 3 days, so there's a chance to make ground. The bad news is, the Jays are going to have to win their games, and even with the s***** competition that's not a certainty.
  14. Pen has to eat up 5 innings, which means at least 5-6 relievers used if JS goes with his usual pattern. Hopefully he brings in Francis and tries to get some length instead.
  15. Nice to see some prospects contributing in Aug/Sept.
  16. The balanced schedule likely saved a lot of jobs in Toronto. If this were the unbalanced schedule days, it would have been ugly.
  17. Yeah I think Rogers is probably happy with the current set up. The Jays don't need to make the playoffs every season, they just need to be competitive more years than not and attendance/revenue should be good. The fans are likely more frustrated with this season than ownership is. Being competitive every year means that the years you miss the playoffs are going to be in the 85-89 win territory. That's where the Jays likely finish this season. Whether it leads to a playoff spot remains to be seen, but I doubt missing the playoffs leads to any massive changes aside from Guillermo being scapegoated (which will probably happen anyway).
  18. If Jimi has another option based on appearances next season, then we're f***ed. He'll be here forever.
  19. Nice Kirk! Not predictable at all.
  20. Runner on 1st, less than 2 out, Kirk up. Seems predictable.
  21. When you take your starter out at 70 something pitches and intentionally plan to rely on 5 relievers to end the game, this always has a chance of happening.
  22. JS going to bust a nut by the end of the night with the amount of rested relievers he can use tonight.
  23. Getting shut down by Flexen would be a new low even for this offense.
  24. They were *this* close to being stuck with a massive Carlos Correa contract as well. What a dumpster fire. Eppler stinks.
