  1. I'm curious to see what Beltre gets paid. Beltre is making less while putting up very comparable numbers.
  2. But they did so well in Cleveland
  3. Well, that's one of the reason the team pays scouts. But at some point, if you don't take risk you will get no reward. At the end of the day, it comes down to dollars.
  4. It would be nice to dream about signing a high profile/upside young player like Laz but unfortunately I think Rogers doesn't want to spend the money.
  5. Fans will like it for the first 1-2 years, then the last 1-2 they will wish they were traded sooner. Too bad, the Jays have budget constraints but they could really build off getting prospects if they agreed to trades (maybe sign and trade). The habs were in a similar situation with Markov, and now he's basically an overpaid 4th dman who is slow and can't keep up. Sometimes it just takes a small period of time for age to catch up to you, then you wished you did things differently. The Jays don't have the NYY luxury of just adding and adding if things go wrong.
  6. Would you guys have preferred signing Clippard for multiple years then trading Revere for a prospect?
  7. Right, and not everyone still hits like Ortiz at that age, you realize that right? Most don't even come close. Look at the market for a one dimensional hitter at that age, at that price, in the AL. There are maybe two teams, Red Sox and Blue Jays, anyone else?
  8. New York won't even touch that, so what other AL team would be willing/have the money to do that for a 36 year old DH? Maybe Red Sox, that's it. I don't mind 3/60 and even that could be risky but that extra 4th year for strictly a 39 year old DH is a tough pill to swallow and a huge gamble. Even years 37 - 38 could see JB declining quite rapidly as most players have already retired by that age.
  9. I don't like the Nats. Come on spankster, there's no reason for the name calling. We all want the Jays to win, they are Canada's team now
  10. Who cares what other teams have in their rotations. Happ in 60 innings pitched better than 97% of all pitchers last year.
  11. I'd rather have Kazmir. Happ had a good second half last year, that's it. Kazmir projects for 2.5 war, Happ 1.8. Kazmir is better, and is worth the extra 4m/yr.
  12. THC content also will determine the affects to your brain. However, there are numerous reports that do mention there are affects between marijuana use and: Brain structure volume, Quality of white matter,Ability to perform cognitive function all in teenagers. Which is why it is not recommended for anyone under 18 while they are still developing. I personally stay away from it, as I have seen what it has done to several of my friends who have been smoking since high school. They were incredibly smart, now I feel like their brains are practically fried. But then again, some studies suggest there are no permanent affects on your brain. So, who knows.
  13. Moncada also. But they can spend whatever they want, they aren't constrained as much as Toronto is. When you go after a lot of high end talent, some will look like they are overpaid, and some will pay off. That's just how it is, but the bottom line is, they know how to win, unlike other teams.
  14. lol ya, Boston is definitely not a smart org. Toronto has made the playoffs way more times in the past 20 years and has way more young talent than Boston. I wouldn't be surprised if Boston finishes last and Toronto wins yet ANOTHER world series this year.
  15. Would you take Leake over Estrada/Happ/Dickey?
  16. In the last 3 years, which pitcher has provided more WAR and is younger?
  17. That often happens to 33 year olds in MLB.
  18. Doesn't CA have a much higher tax rate than Arizona? I think Cueto is actually making less with the Giants than if he would have signed in Arizona.
  19. Good deal for the giants. They have a pretty solid rotation now.
  20. Have the Jays ever bid on anyone that was posted? I haven't read anywhere they did. I don't think this team will spend that kind of money, the Jays shy away from that route for some strange reason.
  21. Well then this offseason would have gone differently right? We'd have a #1 or #2 starter. There's no reason to expect anything different. The GM may have changed but ownership hasn't.
  22. Chicago has waited a long time for this. Proper rebuild, and managing assets. It takes the right GM and deep pockets sometimes helps.
  23. Yep, 7/168 sounds even better. It will happen, it would be bitter sweet if it's the O's.
  24. I really want Baltimore to get him, he is going to be vastly overpaid in 3 years and he's going to be a huge liability. I would love for them to have him at 24m/yr.
  25. Is the goal to accumulate as many #4-5 starters as possible?
