  1. Does JB still want 5/150 or is that negotiable now?
  2. I don't know but '17-19 he will be making 20m/yr !
  3. right, because it's been proven to not work
  4. Very sad news. A combination of his talent, young age, and what he's been through probably makes it even more hard to digest.
  5. I'd hesitate going over 1-2 years with him. He looks like he's really slowing down, running and hitting. There's too much risk right now. He knows by offering him a QO other teams are not going to give him the most money. He's probably looking at 2/35 max with a QO attached to him. I would match that 2/35 but nothing more, and aren't we glad he wasn't resigned prior to the year starting to some absurd numbers people were throwing around.
  6. Yanks were the biggest winners of the trade deadline with what they brought in.
  7. There's 0 chance the Rangers traded Tate for Carlos fn Beltran lol ..
  8. At 35 years old, to get back 2 top 100 prospects, it's not even something you think twice about. Especially if you are flipping him to the NL. Guess what, he's a FA at the end of the season also.
  9. Ya but he doesn't get on base that often to use it.
  10. If the blue jays had payroll flexibility I still don't understand why they didn't sign a free agent reliever this offseason like Clippard.
  11. Now, if the Jays can do that for JB, we can start to build up the farm again.
  12. Yanks will be getting a massive haul for a couple of months of Chapman, wow..
  13. So, you think the jays should pay him 25m? lol He's going to be lucky to get 18-20m/yr as a free agent right now. I highly doubt any club is going to give a player entering his 36 age season, who will most likely finish with about 1-1.5 war max this year, 20m+/yr. He looks done in the OF, so you have a 1b/DH and declining real fast. I would do a 2/40 deal for him
  14. he should go for a 'thai massage'
  15. He's going to have to, because there most likely not 1 AL team going to give him 20m+. Tell me which teams next year can afford it and will want to do it? There's Boston, and they need another starter + they have to give out long term deals to guys like XB, so their payroll without JB is going to be even higher next year and that's even with Ortiz off the books. No way they can add another 15m+ pitcher, sign some of their guys to new deals + sign JB for 20m+. So that leaves which team with the payroll? It's just the Jays. Meanwhile, I still wouldn't even go to 20m for him to DH, no thank you. Maybe 2/35 or something, but his ego won't let him sign that.
  16. Signing JB/EE are tough decisions. There's not much in the FA market, the Jays don't have much in the system to replace them or even make a trade either. But I am extremely hesitant to commit more than 2 years to either of them because of their ages. JB is asking for crazy money, and thankfully this team did not commit that at the beginning of the year. I know short term we have to resign them, but long term, this team is better off trading them even if they are in the hunt. If we had a stacked system, with replacements 1 year away, we wouldn't even be having this convo. But we don't, and the jays are in a tough jam with those 2. If Shapiro can trade them for top prospects, then I would be all for it, this team desperately needs that.
  17. They still need a high end pitcher they will get through trade possibly this year, costing more money. Then XB I am sure they are going to want to sign long term, probably costing them min 10-15m/yr. Even with Ortiz gone, they are going to be over their budget this year, so I can't see how they would add another 20m+ player, especially a dh. Panda comes back next year, he's DHing.
  18. lol hey why not, doesn't cost money or prospects, both of which the blue jays don't have right? If they wanted to spend money they would have gotten someone good in the offseason, right now it's bottom of the barrel scraping this team is going to do.
  19. Probably best he doesn't, no one will want him being a dh at 20m/yr in a year or 2 from now. Not to mention, I don't even think he wants to settle for 20m/yr.
  20. He's also 6'5, 240lbs. I can't see him being bullied by too many people lol ..
  21. I do too so what's your point? This isn't a politics forum so let's stick to baseball.
  22. What is your point exactly? Obviously every single fan would have taken Zim over Dickey and wants the team to spend more? I would take the chance that Storen can regain some form, he's only 28 and has put up a couple of solid years in the majors. We aren't that far off from the wild card, so why trade him now? It's not like we are overflowing with quality relievers.
  23. Ya think? It would have been nice to have JZim over Dickey and another proven bullpen arm. So ya. But, trading Storen now makes 0 sense, we're not that far out from the WC.
  24. Why trade him for a C level prospect at this point? So Rogers can save a couple of bucks again?
  25. The team is only 3.5 back on the wild card, we'll be buyers at the deadline because we aren't a horrible team, but we aren't a good team. We'll miss the playoffs by 4-5 games, and have nothing to show for it at the end of the season in terms of having traded anyone for prospects.
