  1. Pillar tapped him, he was almost stopped. If you break a bone on that play, it's time to start incorporating a lot more milk into your diet.
  2. Jays are going to need to spend a LOT of cash this offseason on starting pitching lol..I hope Rogers knows they are going to have to open their wallets.
  3. So happy we got pennington for his D and letting Valencia go, real smart move.
  4. Anyone is tradable if they chip in money. They would find teams to take Panda/Ramirez in a second if they put in a couple of M a year (they are also only 29/31 years old so teams will take chances on them), and they'd even get a prospect back. They also have a lot of young guys, high end prospects and a top 10 farm system. Their payroll projections are meaningless if they make some big trades, the fact is, they can outspend the jays on payroll. Boston knows how to win, and their situation will only get better because they will make changes to their on field product. I think Dombrowski will get it done there, it's only a short term mess.
  5. Except now to sign Price you are talking about 7yrs/200m+ , and the Blue Jays need starters next year. So less options financially, yes. But also filling an inevitable need that will cost way more to sign next year to fill the #1 or #2 spot.
  6. I thought that's why we have Goins for lol
  7. Maybe, but Pennington can't hit, who would you rather PH? Valencia has more pop too.
  8. So maybe I am not understanding then why Valencia who is hitting quite well this year was let go, who is also making less than half of Pennington.
  9. Not even a question you replace Hutch. Estrada keeps us in games. Hutch needs to find his groove like in the pen or something.
  10. You would think that, however, many things done over the years don't make sense. Increase payroll one year and instead of signing free agents, take on big contracts and trade away prospects to other teams instead of planning it out. Not address needs during the offseason, then trading away prospects midseason for the same positions that every single person and their mother knew needed to be addressed at the start of the season. So don't think that you have the strategy of this team figured out, a lot of things don't make sense. Right now, this team has a chance because Boston is rebuilding and NYY are waiting for contracts to expire. 30m/yr for 1 pitcher is a lot, especially if you only have a 130m payroll.
  11. donaldson is going to make a lot in arb
  12. I like Valencia's bat, he had some pop this year. Good to PH too, and more versatile. Goins is in now everyday while Travis is gone.
  13. at least we got rid of valencia for revere.. still don't like that move
  14. That should be approx another 2 months of enjoyment then..
  15. such a stupid move, all for Revere, or cola or goins? lol .. Valencia should have been kept, and not that he's an all star or anything, because not every fkn player in mlb is one, but he's been hitting well, and he's decent in the field. He can also go if/of. Well at least Rogers will save the 600k remaining on his deal, he'll get picked up very fast.
  16. I remember half the board wanted infante signed, how's he doing this year?
  17. Adding another SP or BP arm is way more beneficial than worrying about a slight improvement in LF. I'm not sure what AA is thinking, but all trade chips need to be focused on an arm. Pompey will be fine in LF. Even Valencia isn't doing horrible there, he can still hit with some pop. We need a SP more than we need a LFer right now.
  18. lol - yes that's possible, we'll find out soon
  19. Nats have the richest owner in MLB. Their payroll is 163m and they STILL have a decent farm. So don't compare apples to oranges.
  20. You do know that Price will cost close to 25-30m/yr right?
  21. So someone tell me why this club didn't sign Shields + BP arm in the offseason and could have still held onto all our prospects? Good job AA !
  22. No one is disputing it isn't David Price right now. Every team still needs high end talent in the minors to compliment higher paid players on the big league team. Right now, the Jays gutted a good chunk of high end prospects and don't have the financial resources to just buy every other missing piece in the future. Happy for 2 months, sad for the future, I think that sums up every poster here.
  23. Don't worry, the Jays have one of the worst if not the worst set of prospects now, so if that's any solace to you if things don't work out.
  24. Do we know what's going the other way from dodgers to miami? I won't comment until I see what they gave up.
  25. If they chip in a bit they will get better prospects back, like if Col paid 3-5m/yr on the balance of the deal. If they flip reyes for a mid level prospect with some upside they get a great deal. I really think if they trade Gonzalez then Reyes will be a goner too.
