  1. Wasn't just the fans....the oddsmakers and money in LV were also on the Jays 2013. Not for this year...this year they look to be right.
  2. I cant stand Lackey... Please beat him tonight Boys. GO Jays!
  3. LOL! Ya..read the first few pages. Ouch. Seriously though I liked the Santos deal when AA did it...long term control of a young asset with some track record...nasty stuff and lots of upside. Its been a bust for the most part but I don't get the release for nothing. Hard to believe this guy was an off season piece in vetoed Kinsler deal. Reminds me of playing Boni last year in important leveraged roles through large parts of season only to then just let him go for nada out of the blue.
  4. As much as Reyes pitch selection at the plate and his D makes me crazy his numbers are strong overall last 30 gms. I didn't think AA could move Wells and he did so I feel some hope but I do think we will eat some $. Reyes future is at 2nd base and not SS - and its not with us I hope. He could be a + 2nd basemen IMO. He has tantalizing ability...still...and I would like to have him, but his D @ SS and his cost just don't add up to value when it costs us other options. Having said that we need a f***ing SS and it cant be Goins.
  5. Thank Christ! nice job Loup. I would have snapped my crayons if JPA ties it with another bomb.... Good job today boys coming back after giving it up. 2 out of 3.
  6. Where is Moogy with his "Melky regressing" posts? Between him and Jose B they have been our most consistent hitters all season.
  7. The guy is frustrating....when he lays off balls way out of zone he is a line drive machine with that quick swing... Kawa has been much more than asked of him on this call up.
  8. I don't get to say it enough with Gose but that slash the other way was a great approach...
  9. Baseball is a game where if you fail 7 out of every 10 times you have a shot at the Hall of Fame.
  10. That's ******** - critique away but show a little perspective and rational analysis perhaps?
  11. Agree. Mark B is about the consistent good but not great starting pitcher I can ever remember...remarkable career. Nice AB by Johnson hanging in there against LHP for sac fly.
  12. nice job Jose....not hitting with the power of past years but that's just good 2 strike hitting...
  13. Haha! Thought I might get you to bite on that. We opened this season with gambles on Sierra and goins. Could they have gone any worse out of the gate?
  14. I heard this guy named Ryan goins has a mad WAR glove.
  15. What's the objective of this? Gains us nothing except cost of RA which includes Thole spot. Is the tap that tight that's what stands between us and prado? Exposes us to risk that mills / Sanchez flop in rotation. Aside from the JPA dagger RA has been quite good lately. Wouldn't lose it over this move but don't see it as that helpful?
  16. Reyes deal is AWFUL! Mark B is ok if he pitches like 2014 thus far. RA was a prospect overpay but his salary is at or under market $ wise after 2013 FA year SP signings when you look at Arroyo, Jiminez, Garza and Santana. I would take Henderson Alvarez production over Mark B any day when he is at $500k, even though his ERA would jump some in AL.
  17. Ive been quite optimistic even after this death spiral started...it didn't wane too much with the injuries but now the consistency and depth of the losses are making me feel as if we are truly f***ed. We don't just lose...we seem to be inept. Remember the good ol days when mostly we thought of who to add as a SP? Now its SP, line up glaring holes and pen....and while we are at it we have no ability to take on salary and we aren't moving prospects. I am calling it - we are toast 2014 even at 4 gms out. Sounds crazy but its true. The org has to make some hard decisions about what direction they are going. Buy, Sell or hold. That has yet to be done. Hold hasn't worked. The biggest shames are the 2013 off season we had a chance to make moves required and we didn't as well as I don't think this opp in the weaker AL East is there 2015 and 2016. They will replenish with propects, trades and FAs.
  18. LOL! I know....just couldn't pass it up given your "rep" haha...
  19. Lots of teams do it...not a crime to give future Starters pen time in MLB or minors. Didn't work out with Stro up here but didn't kill him. For years the O's brought all their starters into the pen in MLB before putting them in rotation. Even back to Palmer. Having said that...he isn't likely ready for MLB with his command issues.
  20. Was this a cry for help?
  21. Fair post...the reality is you need some plain luck on DL front to win. Our core line up in 92 and 93 was freakishly healthy. Players like Molitor who had many injury issues missed no time. IMO the Jays 2014 have been freakishly unlucky, but not as bad as Rangers.
  22. Aside from his noodle arm Davis take horrible routes to balls negating his speed. He dribbles them in the OF when hit on the ground to him. Don't miss him in the OF for us.
  23. sub avg Defensive OF who has made some nice places but agree with Moogy that he just looks bad...a line drive switch hitter with extra base pop who doesn't BB a whole lot. He has been all that's expected and asked this season but I don't like a long term signing...love Gov post on our LF ers past comparing them to Melky. I think we need to make QO for sure.
  24. Saw that Kawasaki tweeted that the literal translation of "Brett Wallace" in Japanese = "Thick legs...can't hit s***".
  25. We are 4 gms out at the AS Break. Hardly waste deep in a pile of s***. That's after a horrendous month. We have one awful contract of any length...Reyes and AA managed to get rid of the last boat anchor we had with Vernon Wells. Mark B only has one more yr left and if he is close to 2015 that's not a horrendous overpay in this market. You want to move two of the best contracts in all of baseball in Edwin and Jose to emulate TB(who has a worse record) because they got Myers who has a negative WAR in his 2nd season. Odorizzi will be a 2-4 SP if he stays healthy. TB gave up Wade Davis too in that deal too and he has been very effective for KC. He is only 28 and making less than 5mm this year. I think there is merit to look at the option of declaring failure on the Marlins/RA deal and a revert back to rebuilding for 2015/16. Buts its no slam dunk we are out of this, nor are the moves you are suggesting without very significant risk. Which is why probably no GM would do it. I take your point that getting nothing for aging Jose and / or Edwin when their undermarket deals run out end of 2016 would be a shame, but there is a lot of ball between now and then to make those moves - and replacing that OPS would likely be impossible at any reasonable price. (Im not a fan of Cliff Lee acquisition either - great pitcher with injury risk now and the contract is just too brutal).
