  1. I may have a coronary.....nice job pickin up Juan Jenkins. We soo NEED this one.
  2. ARGH. 2 down...should be out of this. Cmon Jenkins!!!
  3. \ I have total respect for Mark B but anyone who thought he was going to have a 2 "ish" ERA after his fast start was delusional. He is an amazingly durable professional LHP who will end up with 200 innings and 3.5 to 4.5 ERA who makes a boatload....none of this skid with him surprises me. Makes me miss Alvarez @ 500k
  4. LOL....omg...that was a "sorta" tough chance to his left but the ball was right there....when Mark B is pitching Reyes just has to make that play....especially when you f***ed up so badly in the 1st.
  5. Ug - you are right...but I hate that commitment to him with his sub avg D in LF and his lack of BBs and big time power..despite Buck raving about his play out there. He has been a horse for us this year and our toughest player in the line up every day despite getting beaned by pitches and outfield dives.
  6. His numbers the first third of the season were completely unsustainable. This regression was inevitable but timing sucks. Reyes didn't help.
  7. I was just thinking before this game Reyes has been playing some better D lately. That one hurt. 30+ pitches for Mark B in the first inning and in tough against Price. We aren't making this any easier.
  8. What he said. After this past off season passing the hat and this trade deadline in the best chance year we would/will have in some time imo they were a joke. No cred. Piss poor talent evaluation and player development. Our total payroll amount isn't the issue.
  9. True. But he didn't have his hands like that in 2013 though...which is what I don't get.
  10. I didn't read the article but I hated from the outset his arms out and over plate to start his swing...caused too much motion and he was over committing early. When he held his arms in and back before he went on DL he started to hit the ball better. Now Ive seen him go back to out over plate when he came back from DL. Don't get that...what an awful season for him. worse than 2012 on O and his D has also fallen off. Thought he was looking at 5/75 deal if his 2013 progression continued.
  11. That's fair but 11 starts is an indicator but hardly conclusive of what Stro will be. Price would have cost a lot more in $ and talent given up in deal, but you would be banking on his track record to be worth 1-2 ish more wins which could be critical. And you are in playoffs you get a proven ace SP. Its a tough call to be sure. We erred on side of caution and future. Its all moot if Bosox and NYY come back like I think they will next year. Doesn't get any easier than this year for the Jays IMO.
  12. Not really if you look at numbers over last 40 ABs - last gm he played think he was 0 for 5 with 2 Ks in his final ABs where he was consistently swinging at breaking balls from LHP that were so far down and away it was pathetic. He has been worse than 2012 Colby and is playing himself out of that big deal.
  13. Guys are WAY ahead of themselves on Sanchez and Stro. Who doesn't love Stro and Sanchez so far, but very SMALL SAMPLE SIZE. Sanchez value might have been at an all time high yesterday - like a junior mining stock on a roll.
  14. His V is consistently down each yr since he became closer in 2012 - but he still gets it done most nights. In 2012 he could touch 93...
  15. Totally admire this deal both ways with 2 organizations who know exactly where they want to go. A's unequivocally going for it and Bosox knowing when to fold em and loading up. A's have enough pitching now to make their own deal to soften loss of Cespedes. This is exactly why 2014 is our best chance to get a sniff in the AL East and we have/are f***ing it up royally.
  16. This thread is twisted imo...stick a f***ing bat in his hands and put him in against LHP and lets just see what he does for us. We gave up little for him. Two things we already know is Wilner Baghdad Bob routine and that this guy isn't Bonds.
  17. and workin in da cane fields and tallyin dem banannas....c'mon. Been to Cuba many times not on the resorts...VAST # of people there don't look anything like these guys. These are the elite of the elite and are groomed just like USSR used to with their hockey teams. Beisbol is their religion.
  18. LOL! That's funny...as I wipe away tears of despair. Well we got 2 Dominicans right when others didn't in Edwin and Jose B...Ill cling to that. God, we have a poor record on talent selection and development.
  19. Thursday is the day. We actually won a game and then a SERIES in NY. Is it a sign from the heavens? Edwin has had a "minor setback". We have all heard that before. Lets hope its not what I'm worried about. Price is off the market according to many... We are still, shockingly enough, still very much in this. I think NYY can say the same after losing 4 starters and their pitching continues to be their strength?! This is going to be an interesting week...or not.
  20. Missed the rest of the game after 2-2. Now I keep watching Johnsons HR over and over again on the IPAD. Way to go boys. the O was looking snake bit as usual against Yanks there but they finally pulled it out and gave them a taste of their own short porch! Happy Happy Happy....do it again tomorrow!
  21. Point being he is rarely healthy and even when healthy struggles with command and pitch count etc...ya...I saw the one hitter. Stuff is not his issue. Everything else is.
